We had a lovely stay here with our daughters. The girls who ran the kids club where really kind and professional. The rooms where spotless and spacious. Bathroom was really clean. Bed where very comfortable we had a great sleep. Was really happy that check out was at noon also. Made all the difference in the morning we could take our time with breakfast and using the pool. Will definitely be back again.

I spent a two-week stint here on business, and would likely stay here again. First and foremost, my room was in excellent condition when I arrived, both in cleanliness and wear. The bathroom was modern, and kept slightly warmer than the room, owing to a heated towel rack and heated mirror. The bed was firm but comfortable. I'm generally one that has issues with hotel beds and pillows and found this arrangement particularly comfortable. The room does fairly well isolating noises, and even kept the train noise situated maybe 100 meters away to a very dull level. If there were any desires, a small refrigerator would have been handy for keeping drinks cool. With the knowledge that my room had a master disconnect switch with the room key, it would understandable that a fridge would not be a feasible addition. The room was also radiant heat with no forced air. I found myself reducing the thermostat setting back to 18°C or less and opening a window for comfort at times. The housekeeping service also seemed to be somewhat inconsistent. While the bed was made up every day, the towel(s) that I left on the floor every other day were collected and inconsistently replaced. I was without a sink towel for several days. Other supplies seemed to come and go. Deficiencies were more noticeable on the weekends when there was higher occupancy. Nonetheless, the make-up of the room each day had its peculiar idiosyncracies, sometimes requiring me to reset a couple aspects to my preferences. The hotel features a fine dining restaurant and a breakfast/lunch cafe, both in good quality. There is also a full à la carte breakfast available in the morning. Supplementing this, there are plenty of establishments in Maynooth that are within a very short walking distance to choose from to vary your menu choices. Parking was sometimes a bit challenging, especially when occupancy increased over the weekends. This was exacerbated by spots blocked off for construction work, as well as a public membership fitness centre integrated into the hotel. Nonethless, I was always able to eventually find a spot, though it required walking all the way back to the front entrance to reach my room that was near the very back of the building. A key-carded entrance at the back of the facility would be a welcome addition. I found the staff here, for the very most part, warm and willing to help, often being greeted in passing. Overall, I had a comfortable and pleasant stay during the weekdays, with perhaps a slight bit of hassle and noise to contend with on the weekends. This establishment would rank near or at the top of my choices if I need to stay in the area again in the future.

Quick escape with the kids for a night) Indoor swimming pool was used on 2 occasions. Staff very welcoming. Kids club was excellent including the gaming room. #a highlight of my son. Only comment is the room was very hot. Even with the windows open and thermostat turned to 15/ we felt it was like being in the tropics and had broken sleep.. Ana on the front desk very helpful and smiley which always compliments a stay.

Room 121 16th-18th feb 2026 We had a great stay in the Glenroyal hotel as always. The location is perfect and the swimming pool is fab and also the staff go above and beyond to help in anyway. We got great assistance from Ernie and Edmardia, they couldn't do enough to assist my mother who is just after getting a knee replacement. I would 100% recommend this hotel 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The room furniture and overall style felt a bit old-fashioned, and the space felt quite damp, with a noticeable smell and was cold at times. Considering the price, the value did not fully meet expectations. The hotel is also located a little outside the main center of town. On the positive side, the marketplace café is very pleasant and extremely convenient. I would especially like to thank Eduarta at reception for her warm welcome and excellent service — her professionalism and kindness truly made a difference during the stay.

15/02/2026: The restaurant has a lively atmosphere, excellent service, and flavourful food. Everyone enjoyed their meal, with generous portions and takeaway boxes available if needed. From starter to main we were not disappointed. Don't forget to book.

Shoda Market Cafe

26/11/2025: Nice coffee, bit overpriced. Yesterday 25th November went to shoda for coffee still bit overpriced but was disgusted to see on the counter a plate of about 20 mini shopbought mince pies 2 for 3euro. A pack of 10 probably costs 3euro in Tesco or supervalue. Maybe at this time of year they should be free with your coffee.
05/11/2025: Lovely cafe. Absolutely packed on a Wednesday afternoon which is always a good sign. Chicken and stuffing sandwich was lovely as was the ham and cheese. Coffee was also really nice
