Greenes in Cork

The evening started strong and the service was fantastic initially with the waiter being very polite and sharp. After our main course however, the staff seemed to forget we existed and they didn’t check in with us for over 30 minutes, leaving us to ask them to take our plates. Our drinks were also empty during the middle of our main course and again there were no offers of further drinks. When cleaning the table for desert, the little things like leavening a dirty knife further dampened the setting. Finally, to really make us feel special, when we paid and went to collect our jackets, no one offered to get them for us. Two staff members passed us and smiled but no one offered to retrieve our jackets, leaving us to find them ourselves. The service fully fell apart this evening and it was disappointing to say the least when we spend almost €200 for a party of two.

Fab Christmassy atmosphere. Very attentive staff, friendly and efficient. Food was very good. Decent but small selection in each section, something for everyone. For starters the mussels and Butternut squash soup were tried. I'm assured the mussels were gorgeous and having tried the soup, I can confirm it was delicious. Between us we had the Chicken Supreme, Fish of the Day (Cod) and Fillet Steak (finish it off yourself). For dessert we tried the Sorbet Selection (divine combination of rhubarb, cherry and blood orange), and Choux Bun with chocolate sauce, mousse and caramel ice-cream. Again, everything was really good and it is a lovely choice at this time of the year in particular with the Christmassy vibes and festive atmosphere in general on McCurtain Street.

Absolutely divine. This is by far one of the best meals we have had. Highly recommend the 3 course if you have a hearty appetite. Seafood chowder is to die for and the Irish beef is fork tender perfection. Sticky toffee pudding and cheese plate are excellent as well.

Had a great meal at Greene’s. The food was spectacular. I really enjoyed the English Markey Chicken Supreme, my wife and sister the Beef dinner and fried cod for my daughter. Outstanding! Paired with wine for each.
