Fabulous chowder and toasted sandwich but could do with more gluten free options for deserts

A seafood heaven for fishy food lovers but with plenty of non-ocean options for those boring carnivores. Our handsome waiter with the grey beard was perfectly attentive, funny and knowledgeable. He even thought about whether the live music being played through the speakers was too loud 🔊 I had two of the specials: the prawn cocktail and the seafood skillet. There was a generous helping of plump, juicy prawns covered in a velvety rose-marie sauce with crunchy lettuce and fresh soda bread. Definitely one of the best I've had and far superior to the limp cocktails ubiquitously found in the parties of the 90s. My skillet of mussels, calamari and (more) prawns was sensational, all perfectly cooked and with a garlicky tomatoey winey broth that was seasoned with fresh parsley and ideal for soaking into the toasted sourdough. The Philistine of a husband had chicken wings and a burger at this outstanding SEAFOOD restaurant. He said they were top class so I'm impressed at the range of cookery skills of the chefs. A fantastic atmosphere was had by the low lights, the traditional furniture, burning fire and the superb musicians. I wish this was our local as I would be one of the regulars who filled half the place on this Monday night.

Serious grub hit it on a work trip mid week place was packed always a good sign. Would definitely visit again couldn't fault it great pints too

Amazing service and food. Pat was very welcoming and our bartender, Charlie, was excellent. We went there three times over our two day visit because of the excellent service and friendly atmosphere.

Food was fantastic! I had Guy's seafood skillet from their daily special board and it was one of the best seafood dishes I've had in years. The bartender and server were great. I liked the music as well! Definitely recommend stopping in if you are in Clifden.
