If you’re reading this you need to come here. This place is a literal hole in the wall. A true gem that attracts interesting characters and just creates a great vibe for chatting and getting to know people. We stumbled across this once and found ourselves coming back every day

Best pub in Kilkenny! We were going to have one drink, ended up having 8. Great rock band playing upstairs.

This is exactly the kind of place I wanted to discover during my trip to Ireland. It's the oldest pub in Kilkenny (1582), and it shows. No frills, but a friendly atmosphere that's very rare these days. The fantastic welcome from the regulars and the owners immediately put me at ease. And as an added bonus, a guitar is available for customers, and being a (beginner) guitarist, this led to some impromptu concerts. If you go to Kilkenny, you absolutely must check it out.

3xactly what the name suggests. Very old little bar, very friendly bartender. But the only beer you'll get is a guiness!

We had a great time. It was August’s first night bartending. He is from Wisconsin and so are we, so we had that going. It was just like being back home in your local tavern.

A very unique pub tucked away in the narrow streets of central Kilkenny. Cash only, the beer is Guinness, and the people are cheerful and carefree. A beautiful hidden spot, congratulations!

Best. Pub. Ever. I was going for ONE drink. I had 4. Meet a former cardiologist who lectured about history of stethoscopes in Harvard, and who now runs this amazing tiny place, where people from all over the world can meet and share some drinks as if they’d all known each other forever. This is The Hole in the Walk. And that’s a place no one should miss when visiting Kilkenny. Take care Michael, hopefully I’ll be back some day!

Great pub - but €8 a pint - The dubs would be proud of that pricing!

This was hands down my favorite pub in Ireland. It is exactly as it sounds, a hole in the wall that barely fits 10 people. Michael is an extraordinary human who has done impressive things and is wonderful to speak with. His patrons break out in song with instruments he keeps on the walls for all to play. Don’t come here expecting fast service, come here expecting an experience that is unique and memorable.
