We had a fantastic family stay at Hylands Burren Hotel. From the moment we arrived, every member of staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. The atmosphere was relaxed and family-friendly, and nothing was ever too much trouble. A special thank you to Aaron, who kindly accommodated a request before our stay and made everything so easy for us. We truly had a wonderful experience and would happily return!

A great wee find! We have stopped off here for food when travelling on numerous occasions over last 10 years it's consistently excellent. The burgers are our favourite now! And if your lucky you might just catch a beautiful trad session in the evening with amazing voices as well as tunes!.

Very friendly staff. Good starting point for excursions around the Burren, to Galway, the Aran Islands, the Ailwer and Döblin Caves, or the Cliffs of Moher, about 30m away by car.

Room was fine, comfortable sleeps. Food was extremely good at breakfast & evening. They have a superb Brazilian chef who is passionate about food quality & preparation. His fish chowder is absolutely the BEST we have tasted ANYWHERE. Evening dining was also of the highest quality. The chef is also a fantastic drummer on his Peruvian drum & joins in the evening entertainment. Service is quick & attentive. Great car parking, though would like to see a few EV chargers.

The hotel dates back to the 18th century and is very good. In some places, you can tell that it's showing its age.

The Wild Atlantic Lodge

06/01/2026: We stopped for lunch without a reservation; the bouillabaisse-style fish soup was delicious, and the mussels in sauce were spectacular. The service was good, friendly, and there was very chill piano music in the background.
28/12/2025: Great hotel. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant superb, the rooms are well equiped, clean en spacious. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed live folk music in the pub at two of them. I hate to write this down because we would prefer this this to be a hidden gem for ages. But on the other hand: these people deserve bus loads of guests. Thanks Wild Atlantic Lodge!

Monks Ballyvaughan

02/02/2026: We went for dinner, the food is very good but honestly the price is higher than the quality-to-quantity ratio. I imagine you're paying for the location and the views. The fish burger, given the description and price, is expected to be more spectacular, but it's very good, as is the fish and chips. The staff is very friendly and the place is beautiful.
01/02/2026: We had an overwhelmingly positive experience at Monks. Fabulous rooms, clean and modern. King size beds with comfortable mattresses guarantee a good nights sleep. The location is amazing and the hotel has views across the harbour from the rooms and the bar/ restaurant. The staff gave us a warm welcome and all were very helpful during our stay. The restaurant was equally fabulous, it is head and shoulders above any of the others in the locality. We come to this area often due to family commitments, going forward we will only stay at Monks availability permitting.
