Hylands Burren Hotel in Ballyvaughan

Room was fine, comfortable sleeps. Food was extremely good at breakfast & evening. They have a superb Brazilian chef who is passionate about food quality & preparation. His fish chowder is absolutely the BEST we have tasted ANYWHERE. Evening dining was also of the highest quality. The chef is also a fantastic drummer on his Peruvian drum & joins in the evening entertainment. Service is quick & attentive. Great car parking, though would like to see a few EV chargers.

The hotel dates back to the 18th century and is very good. In some places, you can tell that it's showing its age.

Everything you could want for a small village. The staff were all very helpful, clean quiet rooms, restaurant and bar.

Top hotel. Friendly staff and clean rooms. The food was very good.

Pros: people were nice, restaurant was decent and they had live music on occasion; beds were comfy and rooms were clean. Cons: This is a much older hotel than the pictures convey—stained and worn carpets, cracks in the bathroom tiles/grout, and the walls are thin — we could hear our neighbors urinate regularly. Be aware that Balleyvaughan is in the middle of nowhere with very little public transport available. But there are some good restaurants: Monks and The Soda Shop in particular.
