Ice House Hotel in Ballina

I was there for lunch which was excellent. I did not stay or avail of the spa facilities.

Beautiful hotel,staff were very helpful and attentive.Food was beautiful if a little expensive.There is a bar menu and restaurant menu dishes served practically the same only the restaurant menu more extensive and more expensive.The facilities were top class,the treatments,the jacuzzi the steam room,the sauna complete with overhead Ice bucket out side exhilarating even on a freezing cold afternoon.I had a back massage the therapist was very attentive with just the right amount of pressure applied to trouble areas.The atmosphere in the spa area was very relaxing and calming,spotlessly clean and warm.Overall a wonderful few day's away after the madness of December.

We live locally and have eaten here several times and recommend it to our friends. Dinner last night was delicious as always and accommodations made for our dietary requirements so that we were able to relax and enjoy a really lovely meal. Service, as always, was outstanding

We stayed at the Ballina Manor and it’s a beautiful walk to the spa. The baths we fantastic and the relaxation room was wonderful as well. The restaurant offered a “new” kind of seafood chowder including muscles that were insanely good. The showers have great water pressure and excellent products!

When you have just visited Ballina's best restaurant (no. 1 on TA) that is a hard act to follow. The IH is an expensive place so you would expect top-notch food. Then again it is a hotel restaurant so perhaps expectations shouldn't be too high. There is a vegetarian menu, but there are two pasta mains and a vege-burger - not exactly pushing the boat out. We had soup, a goats cheese roulade that was basically a cylinder of - albeit nice - cheese and a stuffed pepper with chickpeas and tomato that is the sort of thing you could easily rustle up at home: it lacked any complexity of flavour. The pasta was way over-salted. A chocolate tart for dessert was very very sweet and the pastry on the tough side. The best vegetarian cooking in Ireland has moved well beyond what is being offered here, and there is potential for improvement in what is a calm and well-designed space. Service was OK but could also be a bit more focused.
