Ice House Hotel in Ballina

Myself and my husband had been waiting ages to try this hotel and spa and to be honest, it's not really worth the hype. The spa was amazing, I'd come back to the spa, we got couples treatments and it was absolutely worth the money, we thoroughly enjoyed the spa. I feel like the rest of the hotel relies on the spa and the river views. The room was 320 euro on a Friday, it was a "deluxe" room.. it was pretty basic and you could hear snoring and coughing from neighbouring rooms. The food was good but again, overpriced for what it was and the side of veg and bread was extra. Staff were lovely and accommodating.

I popped in for breakfast. Definitely the best breakfast in Ballina. Fantastic views of the River Moy and friendly staff.

This is a really relaxing hotel to stay in.The inside decor is really good but the outside could do with some improvement.The rooms are first class with really comfortable bed and underfloor heating in the bathroom.The view from the room is fabulous .The thermal suite is really good and the relaxation room so good with heated seating and background music.The staff are so friendly.zThe food in the restaurant was excellent .

This was a place we couldn't wait to visit. Unfortunately wasn't what we had hoped...on a positive reception lady was very nice and informative. Rooms very nice but there was an unpleasant odour like sewer. Food was beautiful but service not so. Spa was OK, again thought it would have been better for the price.

Just back from a two night stay at the ice house. All in all it was "ok" we had a voucher which covered the majority of the cost but if I were to pay the price that was charged with my own money I would have expected a little bit more from the hotel. Take away the spa and the outdoor thermal pools and it feels like a budget hotel just with more spacious rooms. The food is also fairly average again not bad by any means but not amazing either , I think the hotel in itself lacks a bit of charm all in all and lives up to it's name by feeling cold. That all said the spa and the outside thermal area is what really saves it without that it would just be a very average hotel.

Lovely relaxing stay in one of the riverside suites. We were able to use the Chill Spa facilities on arrival. The jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were just what we needed to unwind. Unfortunately we didn’t have any treatments on this occasion as they were fully booked. Will definitely know for next time to book well in advance! The room was spacious and clean overlooking the river. We ventured out into town for dinner and drinks, just note it was a quite difficult to get a taxi to and from Ballina town (5min drive/30min walk), we got some phone numbers from reception for local taxis and were successful with 1 out of 10, managed to get an Uber back. We had breakfast in the hotel, it was cooked to order. French toast was delicious. Full Irish was okay, the sausages tasted reheated and bacon wasn’t cooked very well. Plenty of fresh juices, fruit and pastries available. Staff were all lovely, especially the blond waitress at breakfast and the reception lady (apologies I didn’t get their names).We will definitely be back for another stay!

10/10 – Declan absolutely made our night. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. His energy, professionalism, and genuine warmth were unmatched. He wasn’t just great at his job — he was the highlight of our entire stay. The hotel is lucky to have him, and we’ll be back largely because of him!

Top-notch in every way, from check-in to check-out. A lovely oasis with views of the River Moy. Highly recommend the outdoor seaweed bath and warm quartz treatments. Brilliant bar and restaurant.

We had an incredible experience at the Ice House Hotel from start to finish. The riverside views are stunning, and the mix of modern design with the historic charm of the building is just beautiful. Our room was spotless, spacious, and had the most comfortable bed — plus that huge window overlooking the River Moy made it feel so peaceful. The staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely went out of their way to make our stay special. Dinner at the restaurant was outstanding — fresh local ingredients, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive. The spa was another highlight — relaxing, spotless, and the outdoor hot tubs by the river were a dream! We left feeling completely relaxed and pampered. Highly recommend the Ice House Hotel for anyone looking for a luxury getaway in a serene setting. We can’t wait to come back!
