John Keogh's in Galway

We didnt have a reservation but were lucky to get a table as walk ins. The starters were very very good. We ordered the oyesters- very fresh, juicy. Really nice. The beef croquettes were delicious and very light as was the cured salmon. The dark bread that came with the salmon was good too. The main was the battered fish and chips- fish was good and fresh. Not heavy or oily. The service was attentive and we spent an hour here for our meal and beers (party of 2)

We ordered gluten-free fish and chips and a burger. The chips were hard, but the fish was delicious. The service was very quick and attentive, even though it was busy.

Lamb was tough and the fries are definitely not triple fried. I wouldnt go here for the food

Extremely disappointing celebratory meal in this restaurant. After making the booking months in advance for 21 people, we were greeted with "you need to be out of here in 2 hours". This was then reiterated to us on another occasion. Then to discover that the group was in fact divided in 3 was not ideal. Having all been seated at our booking time of 6pm and out main meal still not on the table by 7.15 I advised the staff that there was no possible was that we could be out of the restaurant by 8pm. Drinks were ordered and did not arrive, despite asking numerous times. Younger members of the group (20s) were told to sit down when requested a drink. Cutlery was not readily available and had to be requested numerous times. Despite the fact that the childrens dinners had come out with out starters, and after asking 3 times, their deserts were not brought out to them until after the adults had finished theirs. The final nail in the coffin was the charging of €1.20 per glass of mi-wadi. We spent €1300 in this restaurant, but I would not recommend it to anyone for a celebratory meal.

The best fish & chips I've had in Ireland, and the oysters were fabulous. A typical restaurant, I highly recommend it.

Even though we had a reservation, it was very difficult to find someone to take us to our table due to the crowd. The pub is undoubtedly quaint and well-decorated. Nothing to complain about the food; it's not a place you go to for a good meal.

Oysters to start, delicious. Steak was well cooked and seasoned with a generous portion of chips and a delicious whiskey peppercorn sauce. The slow cooked lamb was also very tender and tasty. Reservations recommended as we tried to get in the night before but there were no tables even at 5pm.

The food was good. Unfortunately, the service was slow and too hasty. I had many reservations about the cleanliness... they served our wine in a glass that still had the imprint of the previous guest's lips on it, and I was sitting next to a fake fireplace that prominently displayed a piece of squashed chewing gum (a photo of which is attached).

Oyster and lamb was amazing! Croquettes alone worthy of a return
