John Keogh's in Galway

We ate really well but I was extremely disappointed in the amount of time we had to wait by the entrance (about 40 minutes) and at the table (about 30 minutes) before eating since we had booked beforehand. I am still giving 4 stars because the food was very good, the cost adequate and the manager ended up giving us a glass of wine on the house because of the waiting. I'm just saying: don't expect to sit down on time if you have a reservation.

This is a very nice pub restaurant. Food was very good, especially the lamb. Portions are large. Staff were very helpful and professional. It's also not too expensive. It's in a good location in town so there other pubs to visit if you want to look around. Two of the best music venues are also in the area. It's close to the Claddagh basin and River Corrib, which are worth a look afterwards if you have not seen them already.

They have a few dog friendly spots inside near the window. Super accommodating, great food and not too loud inside so you can have a conversation.

Host was obnoxious. When we walked in there was another couple waiting and when host walked up a minute later we weren’t sure if she knew which group was first in line. She spoke to us and I mentioned the other couple was ahead of us and she snarkily said “I can’t believe you think I would approach you first and ignore people ahead of you. I work in the hospitality industry and know what I’m doing!” We certainly don’t have ESP and are able to know who she saw and what happened before we entered the restaurant. BTW food was good not experience was cr@p because of host’s condescending attitude!

PLEASE HEAT UP THE TOILET! The place is really good, the food is great, the vibes are fenomenal, the waiters are exceptional, I loved every minute here - BUT - the toilet is a freezer! Please pleeeaaase do something about it! If it would be the same temperature as the dining area I would give you 10 stars ❤️

Waited forever for a second round of drinks. Done with the meal when they finally showed up. Canceled the beer. Not very happy with that. Service was subpar.

Lovely pub with high quality gastro food. The pub is beautiful inside and very cosy. But the real winner is the staff who are fabulous, attentive and very engaging. Big shout out to Sophia who streamed the Villa v Forest semi final for me missing her break to do so. Would highly recommend

We spontaneously decided to eat at John Keogh's on a Friday evening. Unfortunately, we were initially ignored by the server for quite some time, and the empty drinks of the previous diners were only cleared away after we asked. Since the restaurant wasn't very busy, this initially bothered us. However, the server was ultimately very friendly, and the fish and chips were the best we had on our trip!
