Kai in Galway

Wonderful warm welcome, friendly staff and delicious, exiting food bursting with flavour. 😋 I wish we lived nearer to Galway. We will definitely be back.

Was recommended this restaurant but wanted to keep a flexible schedule so didn’t make a reservation. We stumbled in here from nearby crane bar and got super lucky to snag a table from a missed reservation. The waiters/ waitress were so friendly and happy to fit us in. The atmosphere was homey and rustic but still upscale. And the food was terrific. Highly recommend!!

Absolutely loved this place. Great food and service, with a very cozy dining atmosphere! Managed to get into this restaurant as a walk in but we have limited dining time. The crab and roe starter had a good combination of refreshing and a crab mix with a spice kick to it. The steak portion was generous and the pak choi that accompanies the steak was very delicious. There is a slight spice to the meat which brought the flavor together very well. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend for a special event. The price is on the higher side relatively to food in Galway, but worth checking it out nonetheless.

Kai is a great restaurant. My pork chop was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Desserts are phenomenal.

Unfortunately a disappointing experience. Visiting Galway for a birthday celebration, excited to try our first Michelin Star restaurant. This was the first time we were not asked about allergies before seeing a menu, and the menu items did not list all ingredients, so sensitive stomachs are queasy the day after. Very tough, overcooked steak. Those who had scallops and mussels enjoyed their meals. Felt as if we were inconveniencing staff by needing time to order. Very limited drinks selection.

Had some high expectations visiting Kai. The food was okay, but I wouldn't say Michelin star worthy. The fish was very salty. Staff was very distant and we didn't feel welcome. Won't come back again.

So looking forward to this night in Galway, however we were somewhat disappointed with the overall service. We have given the food a generous 3 stars. Pork chop was nearly cold and the Steak although cooked to a beautiful medium rare was tough to chew, not what you would expect given the recent reviews. We did not feel any connection with the staff, almost dismissed of any connection . I don’t think we will be returning. Price in this case did not match the overall expectations of Kai Galway
