The food was on the whole was flavoursome ( crab starter and monkfish and clam main were exquisite but cheesecake dessert was tasteless) service was efficient but lacked warmth and the Irish touch that is often a staple in restaurants in the west. I enjoyed my evening but will not return

Food is exceptional. Casual Dinning. Great wine selection (bit steep price point but can’t complain). We went for lunch, they don’t take reservations for lunch so may have to wait on busy days. But well worth it.

Came for lunch on a Saturday (they have a no reservation policy for lunch so you get the next table that comes free). Arrived around 1:15pm, sat within 15 mins, kept informed by the waiter of progress.
The food is absolutely stunning, delicious mains at €19 to €21 from a choice of 5 to 7 dishes. We had the coronation chicken and the tuna. Array of cakes for dessert, had the chocolate tart (shared) it was wonderful.
With 2 very good cappuccinos and a 15% tip for wonderful service it was less than €65.
Fabulous place, ignore the 1 to 4 star reviews, this is a culinary marvel on our doorstep in Galway with friendly staff and a buzzing, happy atmosphere.

I had my doubts going in here, first of all because the place looked like fine dining and me as a foodie who wants to go home on a full stomach. We went there for Valentine's Day, after my better said she wanted to try this restaurant.
The food - besides the fact that you need to study English in Oxford to understand their menu amd not google every second word the food was delicious! I like it when kitchens/restaurants push the boundaries of taste and surprise us with new combinations and unique flavours. I for starters, never had pickled mussles, had my doubts I admit, turned out to be a very nice starter that really surprised me.
The steak was very very nicely done, top 3 steaks I had in Ireland, I love steak, normally would eat it with chips and garlic butter but I didn't see that on the menu so went with whatever the chef had for me, plus some violet spuds.
My steak was as asked, medium rare, very tender and well seasoned, sauce was not enough but the onions on top...oh my...never thought this combination would be so amazing.
I'll make a joke and say it also had the right temperature, in case you didn't know there are wannabe posh people out there who complain about the core temperature of their steak...yeah, bring a thermometer with you next time.
Service was exemplary! You feel welcomed from the moment you step in the door and treated with respect, up until you leave. Very professional from start to finish, we were impressed.
Now as for my closing remarks, went home on a full stomach which was a huge plus, was a bit pricey, so I would stick to Kai for special occasions, you can tell the owners have been in the business for a while now and they care about the place and it's reputation. Saw the owner try to calm down the wannabes besides us in the nicest and most professional way. Give it a try, at the end of the day life is a journey and Kai should be on it.

The combination of flavours made the meal greater than the sum of the ingredients [ Crab salad. Delicious].

Hands down the best meal in Galway. Fresh ingredients, lovely staff, and a beautiful inside. The detailed menu is written on a chalk board above the kitchen and it may be small but it's mighty. Every dish is wonderful and the desserts are a must. We had the most divine Key Lime Pie. Can't wait to come back and enjoy another meal. Wish I could give it 10 stars!

So pleased I had the opportunity to eat here. I could have chosen anything and been happy. The food is thoughtful and bursting with flavour. I had the falafel and was over the moon. The addition of corn nuts was magical.
Kia ora whaea, Nga mihi nui for creating kai with such aroha and sharing your beautiful wairua. Kaiora

A really nice restaurant that deserves its star. The food is exceptional and very well prepared. The fried fish was perfectly cooked and well seasoned, as was the dip that was served with it. For dessert there was a very tasty and perfectly crafted caramel buttercream cake, which was also not too sweet and very tasty. Unfortunately it was very cold in the restaurant and the service was rather inattentive and unfriendly but all wishes were fulfilled. A recommendation for anyone who is in Galway and doesn't want to go to a standard restaurant.

Beautiful restaurant, with just the most amazing food. Lunch is very reasonably priced too. Dinner is more substantial.
