Kai is definitely a restaurant that should be in your priority list while visiting Galway. All the dishes are seasonal, using superb quality products. Both the food and presentation of the dishes are memorable. Excellent service and wine list and the ambience is cozy, amiable and unpretentious. It’s not a cheap restaurant yet it’s definitely worth the bill.

If you’re going to treat yourself out to a dinner in Galway- this is the place to go. I saw Kai recommended on Tik Tok and then our hotel listed it as their #1 recommendation. Since it was Good Friday and I’m American, I wanted to make sure we had dinner reservations somewhere. (Don’t worry- everything in Galway was open). They were prompt to respond to our reservation request and followed up the day of to confirm.
The menu changes every day. The bread was incredible (and luckily they put two baskets of it on our table). The presentation of their dishes was incredible and the flavor was divine. The best part of the meal was definitely the dessert, they somehow mastered making an ice cream sandwich with a cookie that wouldn’t get soggy or crumble. While it’s pricier than a pub, it was not outrageously expensive. Cannot recommend enough!

Super cute and cosy restaurant! On the pricier side, so we decided to go for lunch rather than dinner as prices are lower then. Really creative and flavorful dishes. Have nice coffee and cake too.

One of the things we loved about Kai before was the generous portions of comforting, homely food. Unfortunately, like many other places, they've started serving smaller portions at higher prices. It's becoming harder to find a restaurant that consistently satisfies.
While it's understandable that businesses need to cover their costs, it's frustrating to pay more for less. When a restaurant lowers its standards and asks customers to pay extra for diminished quality, it's disappointing.
On top of that, the attention to detail seems to have slipped. We were given dirty cutlery and glasses, and had to request replacements. On nearly all occasions over the past few months some staff members made us feel like we were bothering them by asking for basic service, other people we know share the same opinion.
If you're new to Kai, you will still enjoy the food. But if you remember how Kai used to be, with its generous portions and attentive service, you'll probably share our disappointment.
We're hopeful that Kai will take this feedback on board and work towards recapturing that wholesome, hearty experience we miss.
Service was amazing - loved the touches of everyone know my food allergies and being really attentive with drinks and such. Liked the meals themselves, some great flavours.
