Great oysters, good salmon on a very creamy risotto, and a truly perfectly cooked (nicely pink inside), super-tender roast lamb. Plus, very attentive and friendly service. I can highly recommend this restaurant. There's also a separate bar area, but we didn't go there.

We chose Kirby's because of its lovely ambiance, but were then unfortunately escorted from the slightly more upscale restaurant to the bar/pub. It was a real shame. It was very loud and fast-paced, which was evident from the staff. The food was okay. The Caesar salad had a mayo dressing. Overall, we wouldn't go there again.

Move away a little from the main street of the Latin Quarter if you want a little more calm. Kirbys is the ideal place to dine in a quiet setting. The menu combines land and sea, highlighting local products. Added to the menu are 2 daily specials. The assortment of fish was plentiful and well seasoned. The staff takes great care.

Top quality. Went there with 3 lads, great cocktails, decent wine selection, steak was superb. We were pretty loud but plenty of other groups in there were as noisey as us so it wasn't a problem. Would 100% recommend for groups

This place for the price the quality of food did not meet up. The duck was so dry. And the soup and shrimp were bland as well. Might have just caught them in an off night. Our server was quick to take our order but didn’t see them again for the rest of the night.

Teníamos una reserva de grupo para 94 personas y habíamos acordado tener un menú fijo para todos. El personal era muy amable y a pesar de la gran cantidad en el grupo la comida fue servida muy eficientemente. Los comentarios de todos los que viajaron han sido muy positivos.

Comida deliciosa en un entorno encantador. El personal era servicial y amable. Tenía el trío de mariscos que era fantástico y a mi marido le encantó el plato de queso. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente. Excelente ubicación.

Craft Shack

08/06/2025: I came off the train needing to kill a few hours and asked a few locals where to go, they pointed me in the direction of Craft Bistro. Sean served me and was absolutely lovely. Aaron the chef sorted me well out and the food was delicious, even down to the Potato Farls on the fry. Who'd have thought random late breakfast in Athlone you'd be trying new things but here we are. Lovely spot, lovely town.
