We were out eating here and we absolutely loved the food. You can get traditional Irish food, but they also have a vegan option. We enjoyed our dinner with Irish live music which created an amazing atmosphere. Everyone was really friendly, so I can definitely recommend it!!

On Friday, April 18, I was visiting Kilkenny and checking out the pubs that would have live music. Well, the list said that this pub would have live music starting at 9:00 p.m. We arrived around 8:40 p.m. and ordered a beer to wait for the music, but it was 9:20 and the music hadn't started. That's when I politely asked a bartender what time it would start and he rudely replied that it would be whenever he wanted, Irish time. As far as I know, the Irish are extremely punctual. I finished my beer and left the pub. The atmosphere is pleasant, the food is good, but for me the service is fundamental. I won't go back and I don't recommend it. Now, if you don't mind being treated rudely, you will love the place.

The location and furnishings are top notch. The service is efficient, there is no better description. The food just isn't good. Ate fish and chips but the fish seemed to have come from the freezer and had no taste, and the peas from a jar. Nothing fresh about it.

Very cozy pub in Kilkenny's oldest house. Very friendly staff and tasty food. Joiner Alice Kyteler, who was widowed four times, lived here. Because of this, she was suspected of being a witch. Just before her arrest, she fled abroad and they burned her maid at the stake.

At the recommendation of the hotel we were staying in, we decided to try Kyteler’s for dinner. We are glad we did. The bangers and mash were delicious. We sat at the bar, and all the staff were exceptional. The trad music was excellent. What a great evening.

We came here for dinner and were treated to wonderful live music. We had a table for our family of 6 and the place had a nice atmosphere. My wife said her meal was her favorite from our vacation. I really enjoyed my meal and cider.

Christy's Bar

15/05/2025: Stopped off here for lunch and had the soup combi. It was absolutely delicious. We had the leak and potato soup with a cheese and ham sandwich ( opted not to have a toastie). The soup was hot and delicious and the sandwich was so fresh with plenty of filling. The coffee was great as well
07/05/2025: It was suggested by staff at Information Centre to have a meal and coffee at Christy's. We were served by Aisling who helped us set up table outside then explained what a Boxty was and that we should try one. I purchased the Lunchtime Boxty and it has to be one of the best meals I have had. The coffee was excellent as well. Service was excellent and Hugh explaining the best way to get to Clifden topped the whole experience off. Fantastic lunch and a great experience

The Field

23/02/2025: Brilliant pub, great music from 4 till close . Brilliant atmosphere. And a big shout out to Charlie the barman, hes an absolute gem, an asset to any business. Hope to be back in kilkenny very soon.
20/01/2025: We stumbled upon this cozy and friendly bar our first night in Ireland. We are American and were looking for a place to watch the American Football game. This bar had it on the TV towards the back. Although I can't speak to the food we did have some wonderful drinks and entertainment. We ordered a smith, a Guiness and plenty of Jameson gingers. All the drinks were great, but what made the experience was the live entertainment and the patrons of this bar. The patrons seemed to consist of many regulars or friends of the regulars. We met Charlie the bartender who was so kind to everyone including us. He took the time to talk to me about our trip and showed sympathy about the current political climate in the US. We also met other travelers and now have new friends. I recommend this bar if you are passing through Kilkenny and I hope to go back one day.
