Marconi Restaurant in Clifden

Went out for dinner with family. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered.

Located in the middle of Clifden, this is a pleasant and cozy restaurant with very friendly, polite, and professional staff. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We were very well taken care of. After dinner, you can go to the hotel pub without going outside, which has a great atmosphere.

The setting is very pleasant. The service is attentive and very friendly. I recommend the lamb, which is excellent, along with all the accompanying side dishes at no extra charge. In short, very good.

The Marconi feels like stepping back to a time when Irish hotels exuded hospitality and generosity. The food was simple and well executed, with enormous dinner portions. Bread basket was a lovely selection of spiced, tomato and brown breads. I asked for more. My main was the largest duck serving ever created. Certainly more than one breast and possibly more than one duck! The sides were potato dauphinoise, potato fries and steamed veg. The starters were a mixed bag - duck spring roll was dry but nice enough. The mussels had a wonderful coconut broth and the cheese options were generous and tasty. The main gripe was the under-saucing of every dish - large portions need appropriate sauces. We ate in the garden room, at a table tucked away around the corner, next to the windows and was great spot.

The food was good. The service was even worse.

A lovely restaurant in the center of town, run by the Foyles. Fresh, seasonal ingredients (locally sourced where possible) are used. They specialize in seafood and traditional Irish dishes. The restaurant is located in a quaint setting, filled with interesting artifacts that tell the story of Connemara and the hotel. You can expect professional and friendly service, creative cuisine, and a relaxed atmosphere, all at a reasonable price. A must-try if you're visiting Clifden.

We had a wonderful dining experience in Marconi. We walked in with no booking and they were able to facilitate us and a pram. The service was excellent and the food was fantastic, we had the Connemara lamb and it was cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend dining here if you are in Clifden.
