An amazing pub, such a great atmosphere. Loved it

Passed this place when we were heading to our hotel for a break before dinner. From the outside it didn't seem that cosy, but the reviews were incredibly good so we wanted to give it a try. Glad we did. At first it felt a bit intimidating to go in because it seemed like there were a lot of locals as well and we felt like intruders, but the owner/bartender came by our table for a quick chat, which made us feel right at home. The same bartender played some songs on the guitar as well, which was a nice surprise. Strong recommend!

Lovely pub, really nice staff, lovely setting and if you are lucky you will meet the singer barman/owner an absolute must visit

If you're in Belmullet DO NOT MISS McDonnells. It's the friendliest pub in Ireland. If you're not deep into a conversation with someone within ten minutes of walking in the door, there's something seriously wrong. The owner, "The Singing Barman," is a world-class host, as well as a talented musician. And you never know when someone will break into song at McDonnells.

We went there on a Wednesday evening, great atmosphere. More musicians than customers and the service was excellent. We'll spend another day in the area to go back.

A finer establishment for a quiet libation would be hard to find. The quality of the Guinness is second only to that of the welcome of the landlord, Padraig, who met us with a handshake and a smile. A must for any visit to Belmullet

Speechless, walked in the door to a handshake from padraig, every couple got a free bottle of wine for valentine’s. Never in all my travels received such a welcome.
