McDonnells Bar & Undertakers in Béal an mhuirthead

My Dad's favourite pub in his home town. Always a warm welcome and good craic.

Warm Irish welcome from Padraig, and a sing song would definitely recommend this place from the couple from Galway city

This unassuming bar is an Irish pub par excellence. Almost ran past but luckily made it in. One of the best experiences on our tour led by an Irish original. Pádraig is a barman, entertainer and salesman all in one. Live music? Of course, he takes care of that himself and throws a few songs around with his guitar. A personal handshake for every guest is just as important here as a chat with the locals. Unfortunately we were only in town for 1 night, otherwise we would have passed by several times. I can unconditionally recommend a visit here to anyone looking for something authentically Irish. PS: Be sure to eat something beforehand, the evening will probably be a little longer here :-).

A very special bar in a a very beautiful special part of the world...and then the amazing music.

Had an absolutely amazing experience in McDonnell's while in Belmullet for a few days. I've never had such a warm welcome in a pub in Ireland and we were made right at home with a seat by the fire. Pádraic and all the staff in the bar were really friendly, the Guinness was excellent and they were extremely welcoming to our dog. One of the best bars I've been to in Ireland.

Great craic and very good live music at weekends!
