10/06/2026: On a recent visit to Blacksod North Mayo fifteen of us booked dinner at the Talbot.We were given copies of the menu on route from reception. The food ,service and atmosphere was first class.I will let friends and family visiting the area know.

15/07/2026: Passed this place when we were heading to our hotel for a break before dinner. From the outside it didn't seem that cosy, but the reviews were incredibly good so we wanted to give it a try. Glad we did. At first it felt a bit intimidating to go in because it seemed like there were a lot of locals as well and we felt like intruders, but the owner/bartender came by our table for a quick chat, which made us feel right at home. The same bartender played some songs on the guitar as well, which was a nice surprise. Strong recommend!

Chowder was reheated and not fresh
Goats cheese salad which promised strawberries and strawberry vinaigrette arrived dry. When queried I got balsamic vinegar.
I had to chase the staff to order

15/07/2026: Went here for dinner. The food was good and we had a good time here as well. The decorations weren't our style but they suited the vibe of the restaurant and the hotel and we could appreciate it. Service took a bit long unfortunately, we noticed it with other tables as well. I also felt a bit unwelcome because of one waitress in particular. We don't think waiting personnel is obligated to be extra friendly, but this waitress almost gave us the feeling that we were annoying when we ordered stuff or even when we remarked that our fish and chips arrived without the tartar sauce mentioned on the menu.

30/06/2026: Food here is quite overpriced, portions are small as hell, go out as far as Balina, get some stuff from like The Lantern, Julan Julan, ect and you will get the same priced stuff that could last you 2 full meals. It is actually ridiculous. I've even heard the potential of getting some people sick from my own family members! I'm glad I haven't yet but it's a shame. The food is nice enough but they could do better on portions. Also staff can be quite rude, to my mother and grandmother made us walk back upto our house to get a around a single euro or 2 of missing change
Update: Found a hair in my rice. Disgusting. And also are the chicken ball portions getting smaller I swear to god they are

19/07/2026: Disorganised and chaotic, wrong prices and items on menu. Ordered a Pepperoni Pizza and got a completely different pizza. Goujons flavourless and overcooked. Rude staff, won't be back.
12/07/2026: The manager owner is ignorant and the food is atrocious I had a upset stomach after eating a kebab I spent the following day on the toilet

The Corner House

17/02/2026: This place is really special and so well run. The owner Linda and her sister Helena treated us like their family coming into their living room. Great music on friday and saturday night. Was in there again sunday waiting for a taxi and they wouldn't charge my friend and I for tea and coffee. This is the best of old Ireland, great to see our heritage and culture kept alive. Katie L.
