McGettigan's in Galway

Good for a pint of Guinness to wind down the evening while sitting out front to watch the people. There are bouncers at the door checking ID's but they could clearly tell that I am definitely of age. Inside, loud with music at 8pm on a Saturday night. So it was outside with the pint glass and thankfully, no one smoking out there. Great to sit for an hour and watch the idiots peel out from Eyre Square in their fancy cars. And watch the taxis make the u-turn to the stand directly in front. And when someone did decide to light up, finish off the pint and head onwards. Lots of tourists in town this evening so it was busy all around.

Max was great! The ambiance was amazing and the food good. Recommend if you want good seafood chowder or stew.

It’s rare to come across such a dedicated and personable server who genuinely cares about creating a memorable dining experience. Thanks to Max, our evening at McGrettigan’s was exceptional, and I’ll certainly be returning soon – hopefully to be served by him again! Highly recommend both the restaurant and Max for a top-tier dining experience.

It was a quiet Monday night in Galway, but Marty & Shane were INCREDIBLE bartenders and took great care of us! They made fabulous drinks and we swapped stories about each others countries. Extremely friendly and welcoming. Would 100% recommend this bar to anyone visiting Galway!
