Very nice and partially informal environment. The restaurant is upstairs of a pub. Menu in line with other typical restaurants but the dishes are made with care. The fried calamari was excellent. Not at all chewy and the panko breading perfectly crunchy and not greasy. The ribeye steak cooked perfectly. The only partial flaw is the sensation that the mashed potatoes are made with an immersion blender because there are no pieces of potato and the consistency suggests excessive starch breakdown. Good wine list and excellent choice of beers and whiskeys.

Lovely setting with nice buzzing atmosphere. The maître d' was a bit stuffy but the waiting staff were fab. Had steaks and duck. My husband's steak was too rare for medium, however my daughters was good. I like that the cost includes sides, and they were generous. I had the half duck that was very tasty but would have been even nicer if the skin had been rendered more and made more crispy. We had a lovely time.

Recently visited here while staying in Galway. Came across this place when we googled best steak in Galway and oh my they were not wrong.
Myself and my partner ordered one of the sharing options off the steak menu and it has to be one of the best dinners I’ve had. Perfect amount of food for two people and the flavour and taste of everything was divine.
Would highly recommend if you are in Galway city and are looking for a good place for steak.
All staff were extremely lovely as well and facilities were all spotless.

We had an amazing experience at McSwiggans! From start to finish, everything was spot on. The food was outstanding, and the côte de boeuf was easily the best cut of meat we’ve ever had – tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. You can really tell they care about quality here.
Our server, Dermot, was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had a great night. He really added a personal touch that made the evening special.
McSwiggans is a place we’ll be coming back to for sure. Highly recommend it if you’re after a memorable meal with top-notch service!

Great local food and more. Everything we tried was delicious. I didn’t like kids burger though. Maybe it was made like this intentionally.. who knows. Anyways, a great place to visit. Good vibes. Good food. Good people.

We had a reservation for 8:30pm on a Saturday. You definitely need this, otherwise you can wait a while for a table or you will be sent on straight away... the restaurant extends over several levels/floors and we were initially placed on the top floor. It was incredibly loud in the room! You didn't understand your own words and we thought about actually leaving again...but our waitress then had the opportunity to give us another table...
The steak was very tasty, tender and medium rare to the point...In terms of price, this restaurant is on the higher side. There were 4 people, everyone had steak, 2 starters, 4 desserts and 2 alcoholic drinks each and our bill came to €286!
