This restaurant, although not budget friendly is very worth it! It’s intimate and the food is amazing! Fresh seafood and wonderfully balanced flavors.

We had ½ dozen oysters Hake and the scallops. Finished with the crème brûlée trio plus 2 glasses of wine and sparkling H2O for two. 117€. The maître's recommendations were very good choices. Music well chosen too.

I had high hopes for this restaurant, and the meal started off well. The fish soup was rich and flavorful, and the mackerel was fresh and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. The main courses were disappointing—lacking the same care and quality as the starters. The scallop dish was over salted and lemon sole which was floured before cooking seemed to be cooked in burnt butter. There was very little choice for gluten-free diners, and to make matters worse, there were no gluten-free desserts on the menu at all. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and attentive, but sadly, that wasn’t enough to make up for the underwhelming meal. Overall, it was not an experience I would repeat.

Monroe's

27/04/2025: Loved this place! We had the nicest server as well who thought along with us and came to check up on us a few times. The food, drinks and vibe were really good! We had so much fun that we came back a day later.
26/04/2025: Music fan? Then Galway and the Monroes is a must visit in Ireland. I have rarely experienced such great evenings.

The Kings Head

10/05/2025: Location: High Street off Shop Street Service: Laura was great and personable! Very helpful with drink selections. Really knows her stuff! Food: Delicious! I had the scallops and husband had monkfish. Atmosphere: Nice set up for a date night or a group outing. We sat at a high two-top. There was a long high table near us. Noticed some other tables that could accommodate larger parties. A nice seating arrangement mixture. We ended up returning later in the evening after the restaurant closed. Honestly, we wanted to visit one of the many popular pubs mentioned on different social platforms, but they were too packed. We heard music coming from here, so we decided to check it out. It wasn’t standing room only, and we found a small table for two! Music: While we were looking forward to listening to trad music, the duo that evening was great! They performed covers and were very entertaining, Everyone singing along made for a lively evening. They are very good musicians and singers (didn’t catch their names, but it was Easter Monday). Merch: We prefer buying souvenir tees from places we eat/visit/tour, and they had tees for sale so we bought two. The back says, “Irish ‘Pub of the Year’ 1651”. Would dine there again and go for late night music and a pint if fortunate enough to visit Galway again.
23/04/2025: Everything was great, fireplace and good atmosphere with bad music and slow service
