Poacher Restaurant in Ballina

An amazing experience! I booked via Instagram and the manager who greeted us at the door knew who were were, and knew that mu husband was vegan. It's rare to get a whole vegan menu so this was amazing. Service was impeccable, cannot fault it or the food. It was truly an excellent meal from start to finished. Lovely friendly service. Would highly recommend and would return.

Never disappoints, our 4th time at this stage going to the Poacher. So different to what you see for dining nowadays. They sure are passionate about their food.

I recommend making a reservation. I was served because I was alone and it was early, but it quickly filled up. The service was fantastic; they took great care of me. The starters... In my opinion, I didn't like them at all. 12 euros wasted. The salmon pâté wasn't bad, but the best part was the butter that came with it. Then I ordered another starter whose name I can't remember, but it had "caviar" on it, and it wasn't caviar; it was lumpfish roe. It looked like a crème brûlée with the roe sprinkled on top as decoration. It wasn't amazing for the price. The sirloin steak was exquisite, and it came with a spectacular pulled beef cannelloni. I could have eaten two hundred of them. The chocolate cake was delicious, but the crispy cookie decoration was burnt and tasted burnt. The red wine list... It could be improved. I don't like Argentinian or Chilean wines, they hardly have any Spanish ones, and the French wine was excellent. I spent 74 euros by myself, which I think is reasonable. The meat was spectacular, but the starters were a shame. Yes, I would go back, but it's not amazing.
