We had a truly memorable evening at Powers Bar in Oughterard! The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming, but what really stood out was the delicious dinner and top-notch service.
The menu showcases the best of local produce, and the highlight for us was the fresh local fish, cooked to perfection. You can really taste the quality β itβs clear they take pride in supporting local suppliers. The seafood was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and generously portioned.
The service was friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm β the kind of Irish hospitality that makes you feel right at home. Staff were happy to share recommendations and made sure everything was just right throughout the evening.
If you're in Oughterard and looking for a great meal in a relaxed, traditional pub setting, Powers is an absolute must. We'll definitely be back!

Great spot, but worth mentioning, dogs are no longer allowed indoors. Clonbur, Carna, Clifden and Letterfrack are now the only options in the region for a bite to eat on a rainy day with the dog in tow. π

Stopped for lunch as Oughterard was midway on our drive from Doolin to Clifden ... was thrilled to be able to stop, if only to take photos, as the name on the building matches my last name. We were able to sit and eat lunch on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The seafood chowder was the best I ate during our 2 weeks in Ireland (and I think I had seafood chowder at least 7 or 8 times) as it was chock full of seafood. Quality pour of Guinness as well. My kids rated the fish and chips highly and my wife loved the vegetable soup and brown bread. Will be back one day to linger a bit longer and sample the night life.

Super friendly characterful thatched Irish Pub which serves a gorgeous fresh, home cooked menu. Staff couldn't of been more helpful. Dog friendly as there is an outdoor seated covered area which you can bring your dog. Had the most delicious sea food chowder served with Guinness brown bread and butter.
