The best restaurants in Oughterard

20/05/2026: This place has the best seafood chowder I've ever eaten (and I've eaten tons of chowder in my life). Mussels were fantastic, the service was amazing, and the price was very reasonable. The Google reviews have it right with this spot!

16/05/2026: A pub that's also a great restaurant! I started with a chowder, a soup made with fish, seafood, vegetables, and herbs, thickened with cream. I thoroughly enjoyed all the flavors. The traditional, soft Guinness bread with salted butter was a lovely accompaniment to the appetizers and then the main courses. To continue the delicious experience, I enjoyed a pot of mussels. Admittedly, they were much smaller than the Bouchot mussels I'm used to, which surprised me, but my taste buds were delighted by the flavors imparted by the sauce. It was delicious and very generous. A fruity, semi-dry cider on tap was also much appreciated. And for all this, the value for money is unbeatable, and the staff are always smiling. I highly recommend it.

04/05/2026: My sister and I dined here after an all day hike in Connemara National Park. We both had the Hake with a bowl of seafood chowder. Everything was delicious. Our service was great and the dessert was amazing. Definitely will return the next time we are in the area.

12/04/2026: We had a wonderful stay at Mary and Gerry's. Their welcome was very warm, and they did everything to make us feel at home. The rooms are comfortable, and the breakfast is delicious and homemade. A truly wonderful experience. Sophie and Denis K.

05/03/2026: Popped in for coffee and tea. One of our party is wheelchair bound, and we were helped by staff, and a lovely lady patron entering and exiting. Friendly Staff and Patrons too! Excellent service! Highly recommended.

01/02/2026: We stayed above the pub for one night. Very cosy room, clean reasonably priced. Little kitchen with a fridge and microwave. Milk in the fridge, tea and coffee. Would definitely recommend.
