Rafter Dempseys in Kilkenny

We had a two night stay at The Rafters Gastropub, we had a family room for 2 adults and our 3 teenage sons. The room was clean. warm, the beds were comfy and the amenities were everything we needed. We had a fabulous full Irish breakfast each morning, 5 stars!! The location is excellent, right in the centre of the city. Gerry and the staff were amazing, they couldn’t do enough for us. The bar is lovely with live music on the Saturday night which we really enjoyed. We will be back!!! Thank you Gerry and staff. Majella and Noel

Rafters is in prime location In the heart of kilkenny staff very friendly and welcoming gerry the owner couldn't do enough to help u rooms very nice breakfast is very very tasty best value for money stay in kilkenny in my opinion

Great location, Gerry is a brilliant host, room was clean and comfortable, bathrooms could do with a little facelift but clean and functional, breakfast was delicious....we will definitely stay there again

I booked last minute with Gerry and I'm glad I decided to take a punt and stay in Rafters. We booked two rooms as it was a family stay and the central location appealed to us, the rooms were very clean and very comfortable. Gerry was lovely with a great sense of humour and I couldn't believe how low the price was which included a huge hearty and delicious breakfast the next morning, the value for money was exceptional. The pub itself is lovely, very traditional with a rooftop smoking area that's warm and covered which we loved as it was freezing and pouring down with rain outside yet myself and my partner were as snug as bugs in the smoking area which was a huge plus for us. There was live music on the night we stayed and we had a great night singing and dancing along to the singer who was lovely and got the whole bar dancing, I didn't catch her name but we got talking to her afterwards and she was a dote. The breakfast the next morning included cereal, a huge fry up, fruit, tea, coffee and yogurt so no matter what your taste was or how big of an appetite you have it is catered for. The staff were lovely especially the girl working in the bar the next morning, she was very attentive and had a lovely personality. All in all we loved staying there and I highly recommend Rafters to anyone thinking of heading to Kilkenny, you won't be disappointed in fact you'll be very pleasantly surprised by what a fun and lovely place it is. Gerry if you're reading this I'll definitely be back soon.

Cannot recommend this place enough. One of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed in Ireland! Room is excellent for the price, the service is the stand out; lovely accommodating staff. Real Irish, real homely. 5 stars

This is truly a hidden gem, minutes from city centre that provides accommodations, but also excellent food!! Staff were ALL friendly and helpful, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere 5/5 Definitely recommend this gem!!!
