Solas Tapas & Wine Bar in An daingean

I am sorry to say that my friend and I were very disappointed with Solas as we had heard great things about it. We ordered about 7 dishes, 2 spuds and the sourdough (which was supermarket quality bread) and a bottle of wine, which was delicious to be fair. The croquettes were rock hard and when I finally managed to cut one open the filling was too runny. The oysters had too much roe on them, which was unnecessary and took away from the flavour of them. The scallop ceviche portion was tiny and worked out €9 a portion. They were very flavourless. The cured sardine was inedible so we left that one behind. The bill came to a whopping €258. Perhaps the prices were increased for Other Voices and perhaps we arrived at a bad time because it was very busy. We were reminded by the waitress on multiple occasions that we needed to leave by a certain time and that made us feel unwelcome and rushed. She seemed to be stressed. All over it was all style and no substance and I am happy to pay that amount of money when the food is excellent and this was not the case.

Super experience in Solas over the weekend, having wanted to try for so long. Had a mix of small and medium plates with the standouts being the wagyu beef taco, crab tartlets and the oysters although all dishes were exceptional. Service was excellent and right on the mark in terms of pace, friendliness and helpfulness. A well oiled machine in the heart of Dingle.

Wonderful dinner venue. Booked at the last minute and wasn’t disappointed. Fantastic food, very friendly service and an exceptionally interesting menu. Everything tasted fantastic, the food was very fresh and the atmosphere was welcoming and cosy. Initial disappointment at lack of beers was more than compensated for by quality of food.

We were lucky enough to get a table spontaneously without a reservation. The service was very attentive. The food was truly excellent, and we were particularly impressed by the "Patatas Bravas" – a seemingly simple dish, but the special preparation made them our highlight.

Fantastic small plates - specifically the Chorizo & Manchego Croquette was one of the best things I've ever tasted, would definitely recommend Solas!

We had such a beautiful dinner and wine at Solas. The four of us left so happy and satisfied. We’d actually been here 6 years ago and it was amazing to see that not only is the food and atmosphere still incredible, but it’s somehow even better now. The vibe is cosy, intimate and welcoming, and the staff were absolutely lovely. We had a great chat with Ann, the owner, who is a legend! Can’t wait to come back again next time we’re in Dingle!

Limited, unusual tapas. Our reservations were at 8pm. We weren't told when we sat down, so were surprised to find the 2 things we had selected to have, the lamb and seabass were out. We had to rethink and got a large plate to share, not tapas. It was fine, but the service was slow and the small restaurant was very loud. Our favorite tapas in Chicago has this beat.
