18/05/2026: There are places where they serve food, and then there are places that make you feel as if you’ve just stepped into another time entirely. Keane’s is one of them. From the moment you walk in, with the old wood, the vintage stove, and the fireplace on, you feel wrapped in the warmth of a true Irish atmosphere… so authentic, soulful and comforting. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at home.
The people who run it are wonderful: cheerful, genuine, discreet and yet incredibly welcoming. Their hospitality made of smiles and kind words feels natural and effortless, which makes the entire experience even more special. You truly feel looked after.
And then there is the food. Oh wow! One word defines it perfectly: harmony. The oysters with garlic butter were divine, the garlic bread absolutely to die for and the fish dishes were cooked masterfully. The pan-seared salmon for instance was flawless, and the John Dory with citrus butter was delicate, elegant, and full of balance. Even the vegetables here deserve praise: crisp, tasty, and among the very few in Ireland that feel almost as good and delectable as the mains themselves.
Everything is beautifully balanced: the seasoning, the herbs, the portions. Nothing overwhelms, nothing is excessive. Every element works together with care and intelligence.
The fish is fresh. The staples are genuine.
And finally, the desserts: the warm apple crumble with cream and the sherry trifle, both comforting and not too sweet, allowing the flavours to truly come up.
This is one of those rare places that stays with you after you leave… the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again.
