Tequila Jacks in Cork

As a Guatemalan I’ve always loved the set up of the restaurant, the atmosphere and the friendly staff. The restaurant really has that Latin feel to it. 2 mains and a shared dessert were ordered, not long after the main was served there was a rush of people arriving so service a little slower for drinks but definitely forgivable. The 2 mains, FAJITAS de VERDURAS and the GRILLED SKIRT STEAK TAMPIQUEÑA (picture attached) were delicious and highly recommended. The Pineapple Cup to share for dessert was unfortunately a bit disappointing. Instead of watermelon there was cucumber, confirmed by vision, texture and smell. I’m pretty sure, instead of patron, there was chilli powder as there was, visually, a red powder which gathered more towards the bottom of the cup along that spicy sensation on the tongue which got more intense the more that was consumed as, like I said, the powder gathered more towards the bottom of the cup. There is as no alcoholic taste or vapour after taste of alcohol. The mango, pineapple and strawberries were delicious though but if customers are not going to get exactly what they ordered they should at the very least be notified along with the option of selecting another dessert or else the dish should be taken off the menu for the days service and an attempted cover up not attempted. Another dessert would have been ordered with absolutely no issue. I still highly recommend and will be returning but with senses on high alert for any more attempted cover ups.

We booked a dome as we were a party of 8 and it was absolutely fantastic as we were all able to be involved in the one conversation as it can be hard when there as so many people. Cocktails were amazing he only thing we didn’t get as they were not on menu on the night was the ribs

We had to wait too long for our food & when we got it , it was almost cold. When I complained I didn’t receive any feedback.

Not a good as my last visit there, food was a little cold and there was a strange after taste to mine. I don't think I'll return. Disappointing as I used to love it there

The food was outstanding but they are a little short staffed I had the Birria tacos two nights in a row They were good both nights but they were really good and spicy the first night The margarita key lime pie was outstanding but more like a cheesecake I had that both nights too The chips and guacamole were good and enough for two or three people I was expecting free chips and salsa however I don't even think that was on the menu I plan to go back and try more things

We ordered nachos as a starter, we found the portion medium and it was very tasty and it didn't take long to come. As for the main course we ordered fajitas, between the starter and the main one we were waiting around 1:30, which was very disappointing because we were hungry (we noticed that the waitress was ignoring us, I believe they forgot to ask the kitchen to start the main dishes), when it arrived there was little meat and a lot of onion/pepper on the plate, usually tasteless. We had margueritas and they were good.

Good food and cocktails. Nice atmosphere.

Very loud music, even in the afternoon, it was almost impossible to talk. It took about 20 mins till someone took our order and almost an hour before they brought our starters and drinks! Not to mention that we had to remind them twice because they forgot about the drinks completely. The food is all really spicy, the chilli is incorporated in all the recipes so it is not possible to get any food mild, they only offer to get it without the chilli on top. So I don't recommend for anyone who doesn't like spicy cuisine. It is all pretty expensive too and I don't think the experience was good enough to make it worth it.

Hadn't been to Tequila Jacks for a while and noticed (online) the menu had changed and one of my favourites gone! The food is as good as ever. I had quesidia for starter and I think it is the nicest thing I've ever had there - I didn't add anything to it as it was a starter. There were a mixture of starters at the table and everyone was very happy. Likewise a range of mains and everyone very happy. About half the table had dessert and very happy. The only downside to the afternoon was service was a little slow at times and at other times it felt something was forgotten - we had to ask for water a number of times before we got any and then it was one bottle for a very large table and it wasn't topped up any more. Any time we wanted extra drinks, it was hard to find someone to place the order. The bill payment was very simple and straightforward. About half of us asked if we could stay for another drink and they said fine, but to move to one table, which was fine with us and they did say if it got busier they might need to ask us to leave - and in fairness we had been there about 4 hours by this stage. Overall a fabulous afternoon and evening, good food, good atmosphere and good company.

We arrived late, park the car and as we left the parking garage we were just in front of the restaurant. Since we were tired and hungry and the restaurant look decent we go in. As we arrived all tables were full and we had to wait at the bar. Later we experienced that this part of the restaurant was the best. So were seated in an older part of the actual big restaurant. Old because the leather on the bench was worn out. Another good part of the restaurant was the waiter he was friendly and looked regular at us and other guest. So we place the order, starters and the main dishes. The starters came pretty fast I have to say was tasty, but from the portion perspective on the smaller side. The mains we got which took some more time were also good, just big and warm enough. So in summary, it's a bar, not direct central, and good to go for a beer and if you are hungry you could also eat there. I hope the continue the refresh and conserve the friendliness of the staff.
