The Black Sheep Hostel & Coffee Shack in Killarney

Such an amazing hostel. The staff are wonderful. Extremely friendly, kind, warm and really welcoming. They are very informative and happy to help out with recommendations for things around Killarney and helping out with how to make the most out of your stay. The hostel itself is cozy, clean and spacious. Rooms have curtains and lockers (bring your own lock), mattresses are thick and comfortable. Kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and food storage including both and oven,double burner stove top cabinets utensils and two fridges. The hostel has 4 pet dogs that roam around the bottom floors and are very sweet. The hostel is truly a great stay. 10/10 recommend and would absolutely return.

It's a friendly place, I loved how much open area they had for guests to get comfortable in (inside amd outside) the dogs and chickens were a nice touch. We had issues with our bedroom door and the main door not being locked at night, it's a cute but older spot so very creaky.

Economy option in the land of expenses! No hesitation folks, this is your economy class stay in Killarney: location is accessible though a bit in the town corner, rooms/beds are clean and the night I stayed all guests were quiet and respecting others' sleeping. You can expect to meet some cool strangers I guess but I needed to jump straight to my bed so had no chance to do so in the kitchen. Only thing is if you're late there's a so-called late check-in procedure which can well be explained to avoid confusion and stress for newcomers like me who hadn't opened their email on the way (literally steps away from the hostel) and I think it's a matter of good management practice and customer-centered behavior to just check guests in, if there's personnel at the reception (my very case), instead of asking them to "go through their emails and follow the late thingy".

Very friendly and great for traveling when you're young. The staff is very friendly and helpful whenever possible. It's the best hostel I've ever stayed in!

I used to enjoy visiting this café, but my last experience was disappointing. I asked about vegan options, and instead of helping, the barista started lecturing me, questioning what kind of vegan I am, and telling me to “Google” ingredients. I found this very disrespectful and unnecessary. I only wanted a simple recommendation. It was uncomfortable and unpleasant. I hope the management reminds staff to be kind and respectful to every customer .

We had an amazing stay here. The people are so nice, the free breakfast was amazing and the all and all atmosphere is very cozy and friendly. I would highly recommend staying here!

One of the best hostel I have done in my entire life!!! Everything, and I mean it, get you the feeling of being at home. The relax room is like relaxing with sofa and an atmosphere of a castle, the kitchen is very modern and warm, it was my favorite place to meet people! The living room is so cozy with plenty of space to chat with the people you meet and exchange around breakfast... The rooms!! I loved it: the beds are the comfiest I had during my Ireland trip, very private, the shower is very modern and you have toilet and your own shower in the room. The best part comes with the outside: a biiiiig garden with vegetables, space to cozy yourself outside, even a firecamp place! It was so amazing... I really wish I could have stayed a whole week here. If you are lucky you can also get eggs from the chickens on the morning! This hostel and the Killarney region was the best part of my Ireland trip, it really should be the top hostel of Ireland, it was in 2019 and should get more recognition. Please don't hesitate to come here and relax!!!

A beautifully furnished, cozy hostel with a great atmosphere! My girlfriend and I were warmly welcomed, first by the four-legged friends, then by the two-legged ones :) There's a kitchen with some ingredients, like spices and even pasta, that you can use for free. Breakfast, with homemade bread and eggs from the chickens in the garden, is also included! Everyone I met there—staff and guests alike—was friendly and contributed to a nice atmosphere—it was almost like a big shared apartment :) If I'm in Killarney again, I'd love to come back to the Black Sheep Hostel!
