The Black Sheep Hostel & Coffee Shack in Killarney

This place has all the pros of staying in a hostel with virtually none of the cons. The atmosphere is so familiar and chill, everybody's cooking and eating together and getting to know each other and sharing experiences. The staff goes to great lengths to make everybody feel accepted and involved. The rooms are cozy, all individually themed and decorated. The beds are incredibly comfortable (especially by hostels standards) and every bunk has its own curtains. The showers are hot and modern. The kitchen is spacious and fitted with everything you might need. The location is strategically placed in between the town centre and the national park with both being only a few minutes' walk away. The only flaw I could mention is the absence of bathrooms in the rooms (although there's always a sink). Also the shower on the top floor was out of order so we only had the two showers on the 1st floor for the whole hostel. Still never had an issue with cleanliness or long queues so all in all it's only a minor gripe. Special thanks to Taya, Ellen and Anna for always being around and ready to help the guests - we even went out for drinks all together one night!

Pros: Few minute walk from Killarney Park Great homemade bread every morning Helpful & friendly staff Cons: -Short doorways/bed frames, banged head 5X -Low heat top floor & windows always wide open, at 49F with cold rain. People are damp & wet and need to dry there clothes/shoes -WiFi is weak in areas, and on 3rd floor -Soap could be better stocked in dispensers -General maintenance & upkeep needed all around

One of my best hostel experiences. Great staff, great facilities, perfect location for biking, hiking, etc, comfortable beds... will be back

Amazing small hostel. All the staff were friendly. Very comfy common areas. Nice breakfast. Perfect for exploring Killarney. One of the best hostels, the place has the soul. Recomended.

Such a cosy and homey hostel! Highly recommend this hostel if you're visiting Killarney! I also recommend booking directly as it's much cheaper than booking through a third party website.

Great little hostel in the heart of Killarney. Tucked away right next to the beautiful gothic cathedral and the national park. Service was welcoming and helpful, beds were pretty comfortable and everything was clean. They had extra showers outside of the main rooms...a definite plus. Floorboards in the room were a bit squeaky, which could be a bother for some I imagine, but overall it was a nice hostel at a very reasonable price.
