The Elm Tree in Cork

Went to The Elm Tree last night and overall had a really great experience. The place itself was amazing. The vibes, seating, atmosphere and service were all excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive and the restaurant has a really lovely feel to it. I ordered the featherblade and it was honestly 10 out of 10. Absolutely incredible. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back because the food was genuinely outstanding. The only issue I want to mention is about menu transparency. When we arrived we made sure to ask if certain dishes contained alcohol as my boyfriend is Muslim and does not consume alcohol. We were told that the featherblade is cooked with alcohol but this is not stated anywhere on the physical menu or the online menu. While I personally do consume alcohol and still chose the dish I think this is something that should be clearly mentioned as many people may not think to ask and could unknowingly eat something that goes against their religious or personal beliefs. Never leave here disappointed, food is always amazing, fantastic friendly staff, car park may be full but always plenty room inside. Always my no 1 venue.

Went for the carvery and it didn’t disappoint. Absolutely amazing meal with generous portions. Top-quality service, very friendly and polite staff, and a lovely atmosphere. Plenty of parking too. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Food was delicious well presented and beautiful flavours. Both children and adults food perfect. Well worth travelling to.

I always stop here for lunch. The Reuben sandwich is perfect and the decor is quite modern and rich. Staff is always ready to help and you won’t be left waiting. Plenty of parking around and decent prices.

Super food and service. Couldn’t find my debit card shortly after I left, rang them. Staff searched car park, and rang me the following day after the cleaners had been through. Found card afterward in my car, lost it in the dark. They made a genuine effort to help. A1.

The food at the Elm Tree is delicious, but (and this is not aimed at the waitresses who served us - it's not their fault at all) the staff are exceptionally young, and not trained adequately. This is the third time I visited, and I won't be returning. Waiting to be seated having booked ahead, ignored by 4 uncertain staff clinging to the wall who couldn't handle my remarking (in private away from my family) that this visit ( a 90th birthday treat) was turning out to be less than special. They were clearly upset by this, feeling under pressure, and tried to make up ground, but this really is a management issue. We sat at the table for 10 minutes before I went for a walk and found the buffet. We otherwise had a sandwich menu just table left on the table. No balloons on the table (requested on the phone, asked for a second time and finally arrived - we were cringing). Please, who ever is training the staff, please do better by them.

Enjoyed a lovely dinner here - everyone's meals were exceptional. The desserts were also lovely. Staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.
