Best pub in Cork, amazing staff and amazing atmosphere. Someone else here said there's a "trendy" crowd and that's putting it lightly, can guarantee you'll be sitting next to someone interesting! All craft beers but even if that's not usually your thing don't let it put you off, they're cheaper than just about every other pint in the city and if you're in over your head the staff will happily point you towards something you'll enjoy. Highly recommended!

This place is a cultural icon. A real gem. You will never meet a bar owner in Cork who actually really cares. Excellent beers. Pop in!

There are plenty of ways to judge a boozer but one underrated criteria is whether you can go to a spot on your own and feel seen and even strike up a conversation with a stranger and it's this aspect that makes the Friary my favourite pub in the city. The music is solid, the beer selection is great (non diageo and competitively priced), you might even be handed a raffle ticket and win yourself a free drink or two. However the clientele here is really easy going and friendly. I discovered this place at a low ebb and I gotta say Mike the owner might be the soundest publican in Cork and the regular crowd he's nurtured in this place are all good heads.
