Subpar overpriced food. Service was slow despite the place being 25% full.

The most enjoyable break I've had in years. Absolutely faultless by Mount Juliet. I'm very fussy, but I cannot fault a single thing. The receptionist we first met was so polite and helpful, all the staff we met in the hallways were so polite too, waiting staff, management, bar staff all so welcoming. I will definitely be staying again, sooner rather than later.

We’re staying at the Manor house. We came here for lunch. It was about 1:30pm when we arrived. It was very slow and quiet.
We were sat on the enclosed patio. They have both heaters and throw blankets for the tables. It was a bit colder on the patio (45F and rainy), so the blanket helped. The views are beautiful from the patio.
We ordered the tandoori chicken wrap, the soup of the day, which comes with Guinness bread, the burrata and tomato salad, and a side of sweet potato fries. I like that they offer the fries extra crispy or soft. I requested extra crispy.
Everything was good except for the Burrata salad. It was plain and bland. I should have asked for some balsamic vinaigrette but the waitress was busy with another table. I liked the sweet potato fries. I should have just ordered them and skipped the salad. The meal was too big. I got the burrata salad to go. They don’t have any plastic utensils, which is good. I was able to get a fork at the Manor house.
My husband liked his wrap and chips. He finished everything.
Altogether our meal was about €50. I would return again. I actually prefer their lunch menu to the dinner menu. More options for a lighter meal.

Had dinner here whilst staying at the Manor House. Really nice place - lovely atmosphere (we sat in the conservatory under the heaters), excellent service and the taste of the food was outstanding. Had a really memorable cod dish and my other half had the chicken but even the side dishes (broccoli with yoghourt and nduja oil and nuts or the baby roasties with a basil coating) tasted amazing. Good wine selection and afterwards you can unwind in the bar next door!

The Hound at Hunter’s Yard, Mount Juliet Estate, is a true gem. The ambiance blends rustic charm with modern elegance, offering cozy indoor seating and a beautiful terrace overlooking the estate. The food is exceptional—locally sourced, full of flavor, and perfectly presented. Highlights included the tender steak, creamy garlic mash, and indulgent desserts. Service was warm, attentive, and seamless from start to finish. Whether you’re visiting for a special dinner or a casual lunch, The Hound delivers an unforgettable experience in a stunning setting. It’s no surprise the restaurant has received numerous awards. A must-visit if you’re in Kilkenny or staying at the estate. Five stars all the way—for food, service, and atmosphere. Can’t wait to return!
