It's very large and has several different rooms. We couldn't eat because that was in a different area, but we had a few pints.

Great example of an Irish pub. Food is expensive but pretty good. Oysters were small and not very meaty. A shame since all I heard about was the oysters in Galway.

A very busy pub in the heart of Galway. A great vibe with live music. We had a meal here which was lovely but maybe more expensive as it is on the high street.

Our visit to The Kings Head in Galway was everything we hoped for and more—a perfect introduction to Ireland and a pint of Guinness done right. After landing in Ireland and spending the day exploring the vibrant and eclectic streets of Galway, we wandered into The Kings Head, and it instantly felt like the heart of the city. This historic, family-run pub is steeped in charm and character. Knowing that the building dates back to the 13th century and has ties to the execution of King Charles I added a layer of fascination to our visit. Sitting in a place with 400-year-old fireplaces and medieval windows while sipping a pint was like stepping back in time—but with all the comforts of a modern, lively pub. The Guinness, my personal favorite, was exactly as advertised: fresh, creamy, and poured to perfection in a way you just can’t replicate back in the States. We had our first pint here after arriving in Ireland, and after the fourth (yes, fourth!) pint, we figured it was time to grab a bite to eat. The food didn’t disappoint. The menu had something for everyone, and everything was hearty, delicious, and perfectly paired with another pint. The atmosphere was electric, with a great crowd and live music on the ground floor that added a fantastic energy to the evening. Galway itself was bustling and fun, but The Kings Head was the standout experience of our day. From the fascinating history of the pub—once home to the Mayor of Galway in 1651 and seized during the English Civil War—to the warm hospitality of the staff, this place felt like a true slice of Irish culture. Whether you’re a history buff, a music lover, or simply someone in search of the perfect pint, The Kings Head has it all. It’s more

We came here last year and liked it enough to return again a year later. This time, we had lunch. We started with bruschetta. It tasted great, but we thought the bread could have been toasted a bit more as it was a bit soggy. We still enjoyed it. We also had a bowls of fish chowder and vegetable soup. Both very good.

Oscars Seafood Bistro

17/03/2025: I had high hopes for this restaurant, and the meal started off well. The fish soup was rich and flavorful, and the mackerel was fresh and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. The main courses were disappointing—lacking the same care and quality as the starters. The scallop dish was over salted and lemon sole which was floured before cooking seemed to be cooked in burnt butter. There was very little choice for gluten-free diners, and to make matters worse, there were no gluten-free desserts on the menu at all. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and attentive, but sadly, that wasn’t enough to make up for the underwhelming meal. Overall, it was not an experience I would repeat.

03/02/2025: A place with a lot of charm and excellent food based on good products. Special mention to the waiter from Uruguay who made our stay much more pleasant and recommended all the dishes. I promise to return.
