Hearty, traditional fare. Great service and atmosphere.

Lovely set-up with each table in an alcove on its own or 1 other table so nice atmosphere and easy to hold conversation. Service was a bit slow because they were sooo busy. Starters.. scallops and the chicken wings were lovely. Mains weren't as good (ribs and lamp shanks) ribs a bit tough, lamb shank could have had more flavor in the gravy. Desert..bread and butter pudding really stogy and not nice. Would I return? Probably not...

Porterhouse in Killarney was one of those places that left us a little torn.
It was our second night in town, and we had already realised that if you wanted dinner anywhere decent, you really had to book ahead. Even though it is only April, Killarney was already busy, probably because the season is clearly beginning to wake up. Restaurants were full most evenings, so we felt lucky to get a table at all.
The food, I have to say, was genuinely delicious. I could not fault that side of things. Everything we had was really well done and tasted every bit as good as we had hoped after a full day hiking and driving the Ring of Kerry.
The problem was the wait. We were there as a big family group with children, all of us tired and hungry, and we ended up waiting more than an hour for our dinner. We are patient people, but that was a lot, especially for the children. What made it harder was that nobody really kept us informed. There was no apology, no quick update, no small gesture to smooth things over, not even some bread to take the edge off. If someone had simply explained what had gone wrong, whether it was a kitchen mix-up or just a very busy evening, it would have made a real difference. Instead, we were left sitting there wondering what was happening, and by the end of it we were close to walking out, only too tired and too polite to actually do it.
The atmosphere was pleasant enough, but even that felt a little mixed for us. The restaurant is set up with these cubicle-style seating areas, which might suit some people looking for privacy, but for us it felt slightly closed in. On a family road trip, we had actually loved the livelier places more, the ones where you could soak up the room a bit, hear the buzz, catch the mood, and feel part of the evening. Here it felt a little boxed off.
So in the end, this was not a bad experience, just a frustrating one. The food was good enough that, under different circumstances, this could easily have been a five-star dinner. But when you are travelling with hungry children, service and communication matter just as much as what arrives on the plate. A shame, really, because the potential was absolutely there.

Fabulous steaks on a Sunday night.
Service was outstanding, quality of the meat was amazing, the steaks were cooked to perfection.
Dessert recommendations from the waitress were spot on.
Anyone visiting Killarney this restaurant has to be a top pick for you.

Highly recommended if you're near Killarney. We had one of the best burgers we've ever had, and the drinks were also very unique and delicious. Top-quality food, super friendly service, and a lovely atmosphere with cozy seating areas. 😍😍

This place was recommended by our hotel and we were really glad we found it. After about a week in Ireland it was pleasant to find a spot where vegetarian/vegan meals seemed to not just be an afterthought or some junk food, but really well thought out, delicious meals which were creatively assembled and of really high quality. All the ingredients in the goat cheese salad worked so incredibly well together, and the mushroom bruschetta was absolutely fabulous too. The vegan tacos were also nicely seasoned and the filling was superb.
Big shout out to the staff, too - our waiter ended up writing up some things to see on the back of our receipt and recommended us some nice trips to do for the next few days we spend in town. Generally, the staff were really welcoming and attentive and it was a really nice dining experience, well worth the price tag.

I don't even know where to begin.. I was over the moon to find a place with such innovative vegan options in a small place like killarney.
Came there with no reservation, had to wait for only ~ 10 min. Staff was super lovely and attentive, the interior of the restaurant is very cozy.
Now onto the food. I got the mushroom bruschetta and the vegan tacos. The starter blew my mind. The combination with the almond ricotta was insane and I very much appreciated the decent portion size (I was kind of expecting two small bread pieces with a little topping). So the price is absolutely justified.
The main was also delicious, the crispy potatos baked to perfection.
The only thing (but that might be personal preference) is that the main might be a bit small for some if ordered on its own bc its "just" two tacos. But that's cherry picking.
Thanks for the great experience!
