Beautiful estate and landscape with trails and James Turrell Sky Garden. The chef at the restaurant worked without prior notice to give us exceptional vegan options and also accommodating my food allergies. Wonderful library. We will return.

We had a very relaxing stay, thanks to the hotel’s limited number of rooms, which made for a peaceful atmosphere. The open fire in the evening was a lovely touch, adding to the cozy ambiance. Our room was modern and well-equipped, complete with a Nespresso coffee machine. However, there was an unpleasant smell in the room, which may have been due to animals being allowed to stay there.
The staff were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay, which made a big difference. However, dining options were quite limited. The only available choice was the restaurant menu, which doesn’t cater to all needs. For example, after a late lunch one day, we wanted a small bite in the evening but found there was no bar menu—only the full restaurant menu, which is quite expensive for the portion sizes. Given that there are also limited dining options locally in Skibbereen town, it would be helpful if the hotel offered a more flexible bar menu.
That said, the hotel’s grounds are beautifully maintained, with lovely walking trails that add to the charm of the location. Overall, it’s a great place to unwind, with excellent service, but a few improvements in dining options and room freshness would make the experience even better.

Just went for lunch on Christmas Eve. Limited menu Soup some sandwiches and some desserts. Made a booking. It's like we never did, took our seats it was very quiet. Waiter arrived with menus and took our order only to return to say there was no soup. Waiter was very apologetic also embarrassed. We placed our order for sandwiches which arrived and to be honest Iv had better. Won't repeat!!

WOW. Full disclosure, I am a mid-budget traveller. I don’t stay in hostels but I am not a luxury hotel person. I lucked out for a one-night stay in the Lake House Cosy room- basically the lowest budget room on offer at this grand estate- and was fully blown away. The Manor House is stunning and gorgeous, and the staff was so attentive and friendly while my partner and I gawked at the crackling fire, full bar, and luxurious common area surroundings. When we drove up to our own accomodations at the Lake House, the room was incredible. Claw foot tub with brass fixtures! The other guests were friendly too. The view in the morning of the fog coming off the lake was to die for. The breakfast was the best meal I’ve had in Ireland. The grounds, even in frostbitten early fall, are gorgeous. Truly a five star experience.
