The Restaurant at Liss Ard in Skibbereen

WOW. Full disclosure, I am a mid-budget traveller. I don’t stay in hostels but I am not a luxury hotel person. I lucked out for a one-night stay in the Lake House Cosy room- basically the lowest budget room on offer at this grand estate- and was fully blown away. The Manor House is stunning and gorgeous, and the staff was so attentive and friendly while my partner and I gawked at the crackling fire, full bar, and luxurious common area surroundings. When we drove up to our own accomodations at the Lake House, the room was incredible. Claw foot tub with brass fixtures! The other guests were friendly too. The view in the morning of the fog coming off the lake was to die for. The breakfast was the best meal I’ve had in Ireland. The grounds, even in frostbitten early fall, are gorgeous. Truly a five star experience.

An amazing experience, great food and fantastic grounds

What a magical find. The house, the garden's, the staff. The talking stones and the beautiful lake house view. The wonderful manor itself and all it's history and just simply having an auld chat to their amazing gardener, such a gentleman. The trees alone are just breath taking how old they are. This place is not only magical, it's an adventure. Absolutely beautiful.

Stunning gardens but food when I had it wasn't the best

The hotel is ideal with small children and dogs. But you can also find relaxation here as a couple. Beautiful, large park with lots of wide lawns for playing or getting out of the way of other guests. The property is stunning including art by James Turrell. Very nice, relaxed staff. Great breakfast. Cozy rooms with a terrace. You can enjoy wonderfully light lunch dishes in the garden. Sophisticated yet uncomplicated. We were very impressed and completely positively surprised.

We stayed two nights and would recommend it for genuine good service. The many walks including the Sky sculpture, a swim in the lake after a sauna and scenery of the area. Food was fairly good in general but not for vegan or vegetarian guests.
