The Seafood Bar @ Kirwan's in Galway

Absolutely loved our dinner at Kirwan’s. Just off the busy main road, this gem of a restaurant offers some wonderful seafood dishes. We had oysters, hake and seabass. What really stood out for us though is the service! All waiters and waitresses were incredibly attentive and kind. Though we didn’t book they made an effort to find space for us. I’d hightly recommend this restaurant.

The service was great, beer, wine- awesome. But chowder with some strange stuff inside, like the thickener(can be wrong), and the risotto its just like an oatmeal, not the original italian risotto. But tasty. So overall 3 from 5.

It was one of the best dinners of our European tour between Great Britain and Ireland, very suggestive setting, varied and excellent quality food (not the usual 2-3 dishes) and good wine list, highly recommended.

Very nice meal and place. Team was very helpful and nice, food was good. Definitely make a reservation. Wouldn't say its unmistakable but was a quite nice meal and overall a great option.

It was a nice place to visit. It's a very big restaurant with seating outside, inside and on the first floor. We were day upstairs that had a bar as well. We started with a very delicious carafe of red wine. They gave us some yummy bread for the table with some delicious butter. My daughter ordered their prawns as her main and a side of vegetables. My husband ordered the steak and I ordered the seabass. Everything was done well but it wasn't excellent. We enjoyed our meal and the service was very good. We ended with a pistachio creme brulee which was very good!

We were lucky to get in for an early lunch at Kirwin’s without a reservation. We had dinner the night before at their sister restaurant, O’Grady’s on the Pier, in Barna and it was so good we wanted to go to Kirwin’s too. Great oysters. Large, briny. Right from the sea. And the best chowder that we had after visiting 7 cities in Ireland. Homemade brown bread is a hit too. Lovely interior. Nice patio too but too cold for us outside. Very attentive staff. Eat here. You won’t be disappointed. And get the oysters and chowder!

A wonderful experience at this somewhat hidden restaurant in Galway. Quality, well-cooked seafood, with several gourmet options. Friendly staff. The desserts were also very good. Recommended!

Polite and discreet staff, beautiful and clean venue, lunch was extremely enjoyable, great wine selection, and the food is excellent! I highly recommend it.

Recientemente visitamos este restaurante por nuestro aniversario... tanto la comida como el servicio eran perfectos! Este restaurante está escondido en un callejón justo al lado de la calle principal junto a McDonogh’s Fish and chips. Nos lo recomendó el dueño de una tienda que también le encanta. Ambos empezamos con la sopa Dijour, que era crema de champiñones que se adornaba con un poco de aceite de albahaca por encima. ¡Estuvo delicioso! Tenía la lubina, que estaba ligeramente frita y tenía algunos mejillones a un lado. Soy fan de los mejillones. Estos eran pequeños y tiernos, los mejores que he comido. Mi marido tenía el filete de solomillo que estaba cocinado a la perfección tan tierno que parecía filete mignon. Le comenté al camarero, David, que estuvo atento sin ser exagerado, que era nuestro aniversario, y nos sorprendió con un profiterole complementario en un plato decorado “feliz aniversario”. . tan dulce e inesperado... ¡era el mejor! ! Si alguna vez estás en Galway, no dudes en comer aquí fue fabuloso! PS no olvides hacer una reserva, era necesario, incluso un miércoles por la noche!

I can honestly say that this was the best food experience that we've had in a long while. From the moment we popped in to make a booking for that evening, we were impressed. We experienced friendly, engaging and professional service from very efficient staff (with a sense of fun). Combine this with EXCELLENT food and wine, a sense of generosity and a wonderful ambience. We are planning to make another trip to Galway already. Thanks in particular to the lovely lady from Carrick on S., who went above and beyond, one of an EXCELLENT team.
