The Tavern Bar & Restaurant in Westport

My friends and I climbed the Reek, and went here for food a heap of beers afterwards. The service from Katie and the two Amy's was excellent, they were so friendly and great craic!!! So good we went here for two nights for dinner!! Well done Katie and the two Amy's. !!

Excellent food with super friendly staff

The vegan cabanara was sublime & a very generous portion- really silky & 'meaty'. The cauli spiced tacos were decent size & nicely spiced with chips on the sides. Also the most delish guinssess I've ever tasted. Highly recommend.

Large portions and great quality. The fish soup is exceptional! The fresh lobster is also excellent 👍. I'll definitely be back!

My fiancée and I stopped by today after visiting one of the local beaches. We first called up to confirm if we were able to sit in the beer garden with our two dogs. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly bar maid who was very helpful and polite and poured a very good pint. Another member of staff whom looked like a manager came out to take our food order and was so loving towards our two big dogs, getting them each a separate bowl of water and giving them a lot of patting and attention that most folk usually do not do due to the size of our dogs. We had the chicken wings and the smashed burger for our food and the wings were awesome with a generous portion size but the burger… oh when I tell you it was one of the nicest and juiciest burgers I have had in a long time I think I’d be selling it short! Overall this was a fantastic experience of a pet friendly bar & restaurant with exceptionally attentive, kind and well mannered staff. We live in Roscommon but will 100% be back!

Great food, service and atmosphere

A definite top rating. The chowder is heavenly, and the portion, including fresh, homemade bread, is truly generous. The taste is simply superb! And the fish and chips with homemade remoulade and pea and mint puree were perfect. This portion was also large. It's no wonder this tavern boasts numerous awards!

The service and atmosphere here is great and most of the food we had was lovely (e.g. the crab dish pictured), but as a bit of feedback I would say that they do need to work on some of the details of the food especially for the price: my partner’s salmon special was quite disappointing- dry salmon, slightly sad potatoes, not a lot of thought in the dish- and the apples in the apple pie were undercooked and the flavour wasn’t the best. It was a Monday afternoon so perhaps the chef was having an off day, but you can get better food for the price in the area. If they did improve these things it’d be a fabulous place.

Always love coming to the tavern, the food was Devine. Huge thank you to Alex for always looking after us. Experience from start to finish was brilliant.
