The Wicklow Heather in Laragh

The food and service was exceptional! Avinash was our server and he went above and beyond for us absolutely amazing! Will be back again!

We visited Wicklow Heather after exploring Glendalough in the autumn, and it was a truly special experience. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming — the perfect place to relax after a walk in the valley. We started with the **pulled beef croquettes**, which were excellent: homemade, crispy on the outside, and served with a delicious **fig jam** that balanced the flavors beautifully. My wife had the **Irish lamb stew**, incredibly fresh and comforting, with that authentic countryside taste. I ordered the **venison with wine and chocolate sauce**, which was tender, rich, and full of flavor. It came with a fantastic mashed potato and perfectly roasted parsnips. The wine list was also a pleasant surprise — I highly recommend the **Nero d’Avola from Sicily**, which paired wonderfully with the dishes. Service was great: friendly, attentive, and efficient without being intrusive. All in all, this is an ideal spot to enjoy high-quality local food in a charming setting, especially if you’re visiting **Glendalough in autumn**, when the surroundings feel even more magical. **Highly recommended!**

We went with a group of 80. It was a private tour. Our meal and experience was fantastic! We had two entree options. Turkey/chicken which was baked or grilled salmon. Both were on a bed of mashed potatoes which were excellent. We shared baked carrots and cauliflower. Our desert was an apple crumble with berries and ice cream. The staff was amazing! They had the entire group served in minutes. Impressive! They were really like a team. Our entire group was commenting on how awesome the staff was. They handled us with ease. The place itself was the bomb!!! I could have stayed another hour looking at the stuff on the walls. What a great meal!

I've been here a good bit over the years,and it's one of my favorite restaurants anywhere, always excellent.

Very accommodating staff and top grub

10 out of 10 experience. Mansha was extremly helpful and it goes to show that at Heather Restaurant they do go above and beyond for their clients. We opted for rib eye steaks and burger. The steak was absolutely amazing and we recommend it if youre having steak go for well done, its simply the best. Well definitely be back again and highly recommend the place to everyone. Keep up the good work .

My husband and I were staying in the Airbnb next door for a week so it was an easy walk. I enjoyed having my breakfast of scone and coffee here almost every morning. The staff were always very accommodating! We brought our adult children, all vegetarian, for dinner and sat outside. Quite lovely.

We spent Fathers Day 2025 in Wicklow Heather. Brilliant restaurant for that homemade Irish feel, with fantastic atmosphere buzzing throughout the insides and outside areas. We ordered Fish & Chips, and a Turkey & Ham dinner. Food was fantastic! Finished off with a sneaky jelly & ice cream, and a mini brownie. Staff were extremely busy on the day and it showed. General attentiveness to tables was low, and we had to ask if our drinks would be arriving soon 3 times. Only after our main course arrived, did our drinks follow 2 minutes later. Glasses and cups started to pile in large quantities around the bar area, directly in front of where we were seated. I can understand the constraints in staffing considering the day that was in but something to be cautious of, per management feedback.
