The Wicklow Heather in Laragh

A very nice place, the food was decent but nothing special, however the manager's welcome and especially the waiter Gauthier's smile were fantastic. He's professional and incredibly kind, and doesn't hesitate to give advice on local attractions. He's a real asset to the establishment. Thank you to him and the rest of the staff.

Absolutely loved it. Staff was very kind about the waiting and just helpful overall. The food came much faster then we thought and was amazing too. Bathrooms are clean too. Portions were also surprisingly good and absolutely worth the price.

We stopped here for a late lunch thanks to a recommendation from the concierge of the hotel we were staying at in Dublin. Really nice place, everyone was very kind and the food was fantastic. Had my grandfathers favorite, bangers and mash! I have to make time to go again!

We’re on a bit of a mission to find the best Irish breakfast in County Wicklow (and beyond 😊), but this time I can’t really recommend it. The white and black pudding were genuinely very good, but the rest didn’t quite live up to expectations. Many years ago I had an Irish breakfast here and it was excellent — sadly, this visit didn’t match that memory. Three stars might even be generous. That said, I’m not writing this place off. The gentleman who served us — most likely the owner — was extremely competent, very polite, and created a really nice, relaxed atmosphere around us. Because of that, and because places can change from day to day, I’d happily come back when I’m in the area again and try something else. Who knows — maybe they’ll surprise me next time.

My husband and I were staying in the Airbnb next door for a week so it was an easy walk. I enjoyed having my breakfast of scone and coffee here almost every morning. The staff were always very accommodating! We brought our adult children, all vegetarian, for dinner and sat outside. Quite lovely.

We spent Fathers Day 2025 in Wicklow Heather. Brilliant restaurant for that homemade Irish feel, with fantastic atmosphere buzzing throughout the insides and outside areas. We ordered Fish & Chips, and a Turkey & Ham dinner. Food was fantastic! Finished off with a sneaky jelly & ice cream, and a mini brownie. Staff were extremely busy on the day and it showed. General attentiveness to tables was low, and we had to ask if our drinks would be arriving soon 3 times. Only after our main course arrived, did our drinks follow 2 minutes later. Glasses and cups started to pile in large quantities around the bar area, directly in front of where we were seated. I can understand the constraints in staffing considering the day that was in but something to be cautious of, per management feedback.
