The Wicklow Heather in Laragh

We came across this spot on our trip to Glendalough with friends, and the full breakfast was truly excellent. The décor is beautiful, and all of our orders were perfectly delicious.

Update Nov/2025: Wicklow Heather has been one of our favourite restaurants for the past couple of years, but unfortunately the quality of the food has been declining. During our most recent visit, the seafood chowder was a major disappointment — it contained barely any seafood and tasted more like a vegetable cream soup overloaded with dairy. It simply wasn’t good. For the main course, we ordered fish and chips. The fish was unsalted, over-fried, and completely dry as a result. The mashed peas were also cold and dry instead of creamy. The only saving grace of the meal was the fries, which were actually quite good. Overall, this level of quality is not acceptable from such a reputable restaurant. We left genuinely disappointed. 4 years ago: Lovely food and service as always. Superb restaurant in the heart of Wicklow Mountains.

The restaurant has a very warm and intimate atmosphere. The meals are beautifully presented and the flavors blend perfectly. The prices are reasonable.

Came here after hiking. Place was so cozy, service was really fast as well as very kind, Mansha is so nice. Food was great, definitely stop by.

My husband and I were staying in the Airbnb next door for a week so it was an easy walk. I enjoyed having my breakfast of scone and coffee here almost every morning. The staff were always very accommodating! We brought our adult children, all vegetarian, for dinner and sat outside. Quite lovely.

We spent Fathers Day 2025 in Wicklow Heather. Brilliant restaurant for that homemade Irish feel, with fantastic atmosphere buzzing throughout the insides and outside areas. We ordered Fish & Chips, and a Turkey & Ham dinner. Food was fantastic! Finished off with a sneaky jelly & ice cream, and a mini brownie. Staff were extremely busy on the day and it showed. General attentiveness to tables was low, and we had to ask if our drinks would be arriving soon 3 times. Only after our main course arrived, did our drinks follow 2 minutes later. Glasses and cups started to pile in large quantities around the bar area, directly in front of where we were seated. I can understand the constraints in staffing considering the day that was in but something to be cautious of, per management feedback.
