We took a trip to Athlone to visit Thyme on a recommendation. Well worth it and we'll definitely be back. A lovely welcoming small dining room. Very friendly staff who are comfortable and confident speaking about the dishes. And what a meal. From start to finish it was beautifully presented but more importantly very very tasty. The halibut was fantastic. The sides amazing. And the price! They could easily charge more for that quality of food. What a treat. Thank you Thyme.

Excellent dining experience. The flavours were really amazing- every single course had a complex mix of flavours which worked really well. Portions were substantial. Staff were all really friendly and efficient and there was a buzz about the place - they were booked out on a wet Saturday evening and you could easily understand why. Worth a detour for sure!

Absolutely brilliant food from ingredients and taste to presentation. The service was prompt and each server was well versed on the information on each dish. The michelin star is well deserved.

What an experience, the whole evening from start to finish was exceptional. Very pleasant and knowledgeable staff and practically the whole menu could be adapted to be gluten free without compromising the amazing menu. Lovely wine options and I have been raving about my meal since.

The food and ambience was lovely! However in my opinion the star of the show was the staff!! They were all excellent and I particularly liked the way they kept smiling!! Such a warm feeling!!

The Left Bank

29/06/2025: Looked great walking in and really busy. Food was average at best though which was disappointing considering the prices.
15/06/2025: First time at Left Bank Bistro. Had lunch here with the family. On the booking I had indicated we were celebrating a birthday but there was no effort made about that. We asked about gluten free options. One waitress told us spring rolls were gluten free but then when ordering another waiter said they were not and actually provided us with the allergen menu. The only gluten free starter was a salad. I was let down by the lack of coeliac friendly dishes on the menu. The restaurant gets quite loud when busy. There are no soft furnishings to absorb the sound, which I'd recommend adding cushions to chairs. We asked if one of the waiters could take a photo of the group and we felt very much like they couldn't get us out the door fast enough. Definitely lacking the personable and welcoming touch I'd expect from any restaurant. I'm unlikely to return soon due to my experience.
