We are regulars at Blackthorn because it’s our favourite restaurant in Galway. The food is really special and creative, always tastes amazing. We have never been disappointed. The service is wonderful, especially Fergal who knows every aspect of the menu and guides us through the wine list. Definitely go!

Had a lovely dining experience here. Looking forward to my next visit. Fabulous food. Great staff who know how to look after diners without any fuss.

I am truly mesmerized by my experience here. Everything, everything was amazing. We came here because we are currently staying at the hotel and didn t expect anything special. But it was the exact opposite, food was great, service even better. There is so much to tell about how surprised we were. And the prices… we couldn’t believe how much we paid (in a good way). Best culinary experience in Ireland so far (and we have been to various « fancy spots). 10/10 would recommend. And, last but not least, we did go there with a 6 years old who was as happy as we are. Thank you !!

We recently had our wedding here in Blackthorn restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant for their food and service. We had 96 guests seated on our day and I couldn't have asked for a better setting or food. Our guests were raving about the food. The only complaint they had was that there was too much! ( between the horderves and mate night snacks) We have been getting compliments all week, ' the best food I have ever had at a wedding', ' I will go to this restaurant again', ' I will recommend this place to my brother for his wedding', 'what type of meat was that cut again? The meat just fell apart when i touched it'. We opted for this restaurant as opposed to a big function room style wedding exactly for this reason so we are SO happy with the way the day went from start to finish! We worked with the managers Patrick and Fergal who couldn't do enough for us- who helped us in choosing our food and wines and the format of the day. All of the staff were fantastic.They were brilliant to work with and so helpful- the people and staff make a place for us, this is another reason we chose this venue. Nathan, the chef, although I never actually met him, did an amazing job. No ask was too much for the team and the day went perfectly. I would highly recommend dining here, holding an event here or getting married here. You will not be disappointed. A lot of our guests that stayed in the hotel commented on how friendly all of the staff were so I would like to highlight that too. Thank you again!

Excellent food and terrific service! Fergal was very accommodating, happy and knowledgeable. The scallop starter and dry aged prime rib to share were fantastic! We really enjoyed our evening at Blackthorn!

We had the loveliest experience at Blackthorn this evening! The restaurant is beautiful, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious. What more could you ask for? Everything we tasted was excellent! The warm bread, cheese bites, scallops, sole and wine were all wonderful and we’re already looking forward to returning!

Really enjoyed our meal here. The food was excellent, I tasted how fresh the crab option for the starter was and the lamb and the fish options were so tasty. Only thing I might consider improving is the dessert options, they weren't as tasty in comparison to the rest of the meal unfortunately.

Lovely and creative Irish dishes abound at Blackthorn. We dined on the stunning seafood options - excellent and elevated Fish and Chips with not to miss sides (gasp - the potato terrine - so delicious), delicate and delicious gambas, and a scallop starter that wowed. Unique wine offerings (a Greek white was summer in a glass) served in a statuesque Zwiesel glass and dessert that left us perfectly satiated on a chocolate cloud of happy. And the bread! Pillows of pull apart rolls! We also were enamored of the ceramic table wear and would have bought an entire set were it on offer. We had been dining out all weekend and by Sunday wanted something lighter but still culinarily creative - this was a perfect solution! Highly recommend!
