Windsor Bar & Restaurant in Dundalk

We walked in the restaurant based on great reviews here on Google Maps. We were travelling from Canada. Service wasnt good. Lacking eye contact. It felt awkward so we didnt order another round. We just got up and left. We stayed at many places and had a great trip but this restaurant made us feel awkward or outcasts. I dont know what it was but it was weird. The meal was excellent though.

I was delighted to be part of a group from Dundalk Food & Drink that visited The Windsor at the end of May, when we were treated to a showcase of the best food that the restaurant has to offer. I enjoyed my choice of a starter of chicken & mushroom risotto, followed by a tasty (and generous) hake tempura with saffron sauce. Marieta Rías Baixas Albariño 2024 and Segredos de São Miguel Alentejano 2023 were the wines on offer. A warm welcome and excellent service added greatly to our visit. 👏👏👏 to all the staff!

Food and service never disappoints!

Beautiful place. Very warm and welcoming. Delicious meal. Generous portions... I highly recommend it.

The waitresses like plural checked if we were done once every 5 min. The place was almost empty. Now to be honest we were confused if this was great customer service or if they wanted us to leave. The bar is great and the manager was nice. I think the staff just was checking on us and were not talking amongst themselves on who is attending our table which resulted in 4 staff members asking if we were done back to bank for 30 min straight which felt very weird. But the food was good and the atmosphere too. We had leg of lamb and stuffed mushroom.

Great place, nice people there. The hole parti loved the food. Windsor chicken is the best, it out me in Christmas mood, that stuffing.

Everything was clean and orderly.

Lunch with family turned out to be rather disappointing. Ordered fish and chips & we were served two small pieces of fish as opposed to a full piece. Moreover, it was dripping in oil & the batter was soggy. At a cost of €18.50 that's unsatisfactory. Beetroot salad with oven baked vegetables....it was awful, greacy & tasteless! €13 - pricey! The sandwich ordered for a child was okay. Overall, disappointing & would not return.
