26/09/2026: i have been coming here regularly, usually every week or two, and i have always had a good experience. i normally come with a friend, who places our usual order, so I am familiar with the dish we like but not with all the specific options on the menu. this time i came by myself and ordered the same dish as usual. when the staff member asked me “plain chicken?”, i said yes, assuming she meant regular chicken without anything spicy or heavily seasoned. she never asked me which type of chicken i wanted, or explained that “plain chicken” referred to a specific preparation. well, i got the food and realised that it was diced chicken rather than the crispy shredded chicken I normally have. i accept that i should have checked the menu and clarified exactly what i wanted, and i was happy to acknowledge that. so, i went back politely and asked whether it would be possible to change it. i apologised for the misunderstanding and even offered to pay extra for the replacement. i wasnr asking for something unreasonable or demanding that they remake it for free. but what really disappointed me was the way i was treated when i tried to resolve the issue. the woman became visibly annoyed and spoke to me in a very rude and dismissive manner. even after i repeatedly apologised and explained that I now understood what “plain chicken” meant, she continued bringing up the fact that the misunderstanding was my fault. i never raised my voice, was never rude or disrespectful, and was simply trying to find a solution. i completely understand that misunderstandings happen and that i could have communicated my order more clearly. however, mistakes happen on both sides, and I don’t think a customer should be made to feel embarrassed or humiliated after politely acknowledging their mistake and trying to resolve it. i am particularly disappointed because I have been a regular customer and have always been polite and respectful to the staff. I hope the management can take this feedback on board, because the food itself was not the main issue for me.

06/08/2026: Some reviews here saying they don't take cart, they DEFINIETLY take card now. Great spice bag I got for a tenner that I paid for using apple pay.

31/07/2026: I only get a beef or a chicken curry or chicken balls, noodles so I can't speak on their whole menu. But their Currys are the best. I get Chinese a lot and this is up there with the small few in the area that are lovely. The main thing is I don't get sluggish and bloated after it so it's not full of junk. Love it 👍🏻

12/07/2026: The only place I've been to in Ireland with something approaching American-style orange chicken, which I was severely missing. Price and portion size is good, location is extremely convenient if you're taking the Dart in and out of Dun Laoghaire.

19/10/2026: Myself and my husband were there sunday frist of all the place is very clean i wont take that from them my husband had the pork dish it was terrible tuff the rice was full of ham hock i could eat it was turning my stomach my sweet&sour was full of sauce didnt enjoy i one bit. The sitting people are looking into your mouth .

07/09/2026: Got a spice bag and i was disgusted by how bland the chicken and chips was their was only salt and lots of msg on the food plus the chicken was really dry and looked almost pale I took one bite of the chicken and I immediately lost my appetite I would not recommend this place as it was a waste of money and the the quality was one of the worst I’ve seen for a Chinese I would not recommend the curry sauce was also bland, I am saddened to see this place lose it food quality as I used to order it a good few times over the years, overall the food was over seasoned with salt and msg no other flavour than that and the quality and dryness is not worth your money.

21/04/2026: No.1 takeaway in Ireland. My family and I are getting our food here since it opened. Lovely owners, staff and delivery drivers. Food is second to none. Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

14/04/2026: Yet another price increase. Totally not worth it. Food was substandard. Chips were obviously reheated. Interior needs a new coat of paint. Everything looks tired, I cannot understand how they keep raising the price despite the decline in overall food quality. Ridiculous

10/10/2026: Usually love Golden Valley and it’s our weekly takeaway spot, however the past 2-3 times food quality has been very poor. Spicebag has changed with no onions and caked with dry powder, chicken was rubbery and hard to eat and the chips are inedible and just stale

25/09/2026: RUN AWAY, YOU POOR FOOLS!! An hour's wait at a barely cleaned, unset table in the cold, only to be told it would take another 20/25 minutes to get our meal.

28/07/2026: I mentioned that the price of the rice wasn't explained beforehand and that the dishes were extremely unpalatable. The restaurant showed no remorse or apology whatsoever; instead, they desperately tried to justify themselves. So please, everyone, don't go there unless you want to be abused and subjected to inhumane treatment.

13/01/2026: Normally a perfect Chinese. But tonight order was messed up and offered to keep the wrong delivery after overpaying and told it wasn't there fault all I wanted was my prawn toast hopefully you dont get the customer service I got tonight

21/09/2026: A First Visit to the Far East Restaurant, Ballyfermot Saturday evening brought my daughter and me to the Far East Restaurant in Ballyfermot for the first time — she loves discovering new places, and this was a lovely find. We were looked after by a confident, competent young woman who clearly took pride in being part of this second-generation family restaurant. The welcome was warm, the portions were generous, and the food was delicious. There was so much that we couldn't finish it all, so we happily boxed up the leftovers — and they tasted every bit as good when enjoyed later at home! If you enjoy Asian food, it's great to have a roomy, nicely decorated restaurant option right here in Ballyfermot. A lovely evening, good food and friendly service — sometimes it's nice to discover what's on your own doorstep. 🥢🍜
