13/07/2026: I had a really great experience here. The food was full of flavour, fresh, and honestly just really wholesome. The staff were super warm and welcoming, and the whole place had a relaxed, comfortable vibe that made the meal even better. Everything felt cared for, from the service to the dishes themselves. I left genuinely happy with the experience and would definitely go back for sure. 🙃🙂

05/07/2026: On the banks of the Shannon, RiverSpice is an absolute must. I went with my girlfriend, and it's a genuine fine dining experience, perfect for grabbing a romantic dinner and taking a walk down to the river during the summer months. Must-see sights paired with must-have food. Portions are also truly generous, ideal for large families too. What impressed me most is that this feels like a real step up from the usual Indian takeaway, the plating, and the attention to detail all say "fine dining," even in a small Clare town. Naan was fresh and blistered, rice was fluffy, and the staff were warm and clearly proud of what they're serving. Clare isn't short on charm, but it's been missing a restaurant like this, one that treats Pakistani and Indian cuisine as something to be savoured, not just delivered in a bag. Can't recommend RiverSpice enough. Already planning my next visit.

04/04/2026: I went for one overnight with my longtime pal that I don't get to see very often so it was a really nice little treat to get away together. We arrived at 1pm-ish that was fine we knew the room wouldn't be available until 3pm so we got some drinks in the bar and had a catch up. We had booked afternoon tea for 3.45pm. At nearly 3pm we collected our bags and tried to check in to be told the room was still not ready. In the meantime every other person who checked in seemed to get their key and go to their room. The hotel said it would be another 5 mins!! That was fine these things happen of course so I asked would they provide us with a coffee while we waited I was told no it wasn't the policy!!! Eventually got the key to the room at 3.45pm so had to push out the afternoon tea. When we got to sit down for afternoon tea it took 15 minutes to come however the food was not great. The sweet treats were lovely and fresh but the sandwich (bread) was hard it had obviously been left sitting and the hot food was tepid really not acceptable!! I asked to speak with the general manager and she was extremely unprofessional how she reacted to my complaints!! she offered to give the afternoon tea for €40 instead of €60. She offered a late check out but to be honest I had no intentions of staying any longer than was needed after breakfast!! This is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting however some of the staff were unbelievably unprofessional or under trained. The bar staff were very nice but reception and management need to learn how to deal with complaints in a professional manner. I would never stay in this place again! The only reason I gave it one star was for the comfort of the bed and the bar staff 🌟
