The best restaurants in Kilrush

07/04/2026: Went there for brunch because 'beag' was closed. I was sorry I bothered. There was a choice of soups on the blackboard, so I ordered 2 BLT wraps and 2 butternut & tomato soups. Ten minutes later the server came to the table to inform us the soups was sold out, all soups were sold out, I think there was a choice of soups. This was at 12:30 hrs. Who runs out of soup before lunch. Best guess: forgot to make soup. The BLT wraps didn't contain bacon but ham from a packet, tasteless tomato, lettuce and mayonnaise. The coffee tasted like it was made that morning and reheated. Oh! take down the Christmas tree it's April.

15/01/2026: Nice coffee. The staff were kind and it was a cozy interior. Didn’t try and food but it looked good. Will note they closed at 3pm rather than 4pm as listed on google.

16/07/2026: We stopped for lunch during our road trip. Friendly staff.

09/07/2026: We were here in July 26 on our way through from the ferry to Lisdoonvarna. Food was lovely, perfect portions and really home cooked. Had lovely tender roast beef, yummie fish and chips, and chicken Maryland. Staff were very friendly and we will definitely come back.

14/07/2026: Not only the best drinking establishment in the area, but a stand-out personal favorite the world over. Here you will find perfect pints, great conversation, much of which lifts the spirits with its eccentric hilarity so typical of the Irish humor, and a lovely welcoming atmosphere so attuned to the nature of its guests whether they be local regulars or international visitors. There is a great selection of live music on summer evenings and Sunday nights, with artists and musicians of all genres, and all very talented and entertaining. I’ve been turned on to some fantastic singers and groups here: Paula Ryan, Damien Gormley, Strings and Things. Always a great atmosphere. The proprietor Shawna works incredibly hard, with lightning efficiency, fun and friendliness. She knows how to run the business because of an innate ability to understand the customer’s needs: refreshment, company, craic or a quiet, contemplative pint felt with its inherent kindness. Amy and Kevin are brilliant too, and all three work seamlessly together, each with their individual character to really look after you. I always feel so at home here, and it is really one of the only places I know where I feel comfortable, relaxed and able to interact with all sorts of people. Truly a great and unique experience and a genuine taste of what Irish life and culture are really like. Thank you Johnson’s! Can’t wait to be back.

24/06/2026: Welcome, indeed! Great woman, Shawna, is the proprietor. She is an ambassador to outsiders and only shares the truth! No BS😉

25/07/2026: Pros: Cheap, fast service, good food for the price. Friendly and helpful staff. Cons: It gets a bit busy on Saturday mornings, and there's limited table space if you're eating in. We got breakfast for five adults and two toddlers for about €60, including three full Irish breakfasts, one half breakfast and a scrambled egg for the little one.

19/05/2026: Superb food and service. We were travelling towards Kilkee and rang ahead for our choice which was ready for collection when we passed through Kilrush. If you like this style of traditional chip shop food then don't pass Coffeys in Kilrush.

08/08/2026: We got pizza and chips and pizza was amazing !! So were chips. Would come back again

27/04/2026: The absolute worst in take away food. Ordered a cheeseburger for the child and he took one bite and said it was disgusting. In an attempt to convince him that it was ok I tried it myself and to be fair- he was spot on. Rubbery, dry beef with cheap, vinegary ketchup and a dry bun. I feel sorry for the bin that it went into. Was told it would be ready in 10 mins.... was more like 25. On top of all that- they dont take card payment!!!! What kind of establishment doesnt accept card payment in 2026. A very dodgy one.
