Cush
Ballycotton
08/12/2025: Great food and very friendly staff. Always a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
07/12/2025: A cold wet and windy evening in Ballycotton, this is the closest pub to the pier, where water rages and crashed over the breaker onto the pier and street, the perfect experience, pre-pints.
The bar was warm as was the welcome.
I was looking for a pint of local Beamish or Murphys, but was willing to settle for my favourite pint, Guinness.

Blackbird
Ballycotton
25/01/2026: Very disappointing experience.
I was genuinely taken aback by how rude and dismissive the young man behind the bar was. His attitude was openly hostile and unwelcoming, and it was clear his priority was chatting with his friends at the end of the bar rather than serving customers properly.
While I was there, a couple of people came in looking for food and left visibly unimpressed by his manner as well, so it certainly wasn’t just my impression. Good customer service costs nothing, yet it was completely absent.
If someone dislikes dealing with the public, working behind a bar is probably not the right job. What’s more surprising is that locals told me he’s been there for years, which raises serious questions about management oversight and standards.
Ballycotton relies on hospitality, and places like this should be setting a far better example. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I wouldn’t be in a hurry to return.
11/01/2026: You cannot beat a proper Irish bar with live music EVERY WEEK, multiple times at that. They always have a mix, it could be rock, folk, trad, dj, and general mix.
They also serve food through the trawler boys.
And they cater for afters of weddings or birthdays etc.

The Schooner
Ballycotton
11/01/2026: Food is always so fresh and delicious. Their scampi is worth travelling for as is all the fish. The roast dinners are always gorgeous and tender, and homemade. Then for lunch, the soups and paninis are delicious, especially with the homecooked ham in the toasted sambos.
23/09/2025: We arrived at night, when all the cats are gray, and although the room seemed expensive, well, oh well... In the morning, I moved the duvet and found a tissue stuck on it: Did we sleep on unchangeable sheets? The carpet, I think, was pissed off by the vacuum cleaner. Anyway, I'm giving it two stars for the breakfast, which wasn't bad.
I don't recommend it.

Bayview
Ballycotton
20/07/2025: Lovely terraces area to look out at the coast. Lovely staff and the wine was fabulous!
04/07/2025: Truly the most considerate staff going. I’ve never seen so many waiters and waitresses (amongst others) work so perfectly. I could only dream of service this good again
