The best restaurants in Macroom

25/11/2024: Great baking especially the rye sourdough. You can get it to take home or get your sandwich made with it there. Not to mind the other fresh batch loaves, soda bread etc. very friendly staff and the most excellent breakfasts. Good coffee too.

22/12/2024: As others have mentioned, it doesn't look like much, but there's so much heart in this place. Wonderful owner, and lots of great events that are all about bringing people together. Some of the best nachos you can get.

23/01/2025: I am preparing a travel guide on the Wild Atlantic Way so I went into the Castle hotel for Chef Elaine's Chicken Curry. Ordered it for 2 and requested it to be extra hot and spicy. Not only was not extra hot and spicy, Elaine's Chicken curry was barely warm. I mentioned it to Renata, who was the waitress who took the order but she was too tired and really couldn't careless, (In the Castle customers really don't matter. I am just someone to extract money out of to pay wages). I asked for extra crushed chilli's so I had to prepare the food that I was paying the Castle Hotel to do, but obviously Elaine wasn't interested in her signature dish, (why put your name to something if your not going to stand over it?). It was served with rice and my colleague had half chips and half rice. For desert I had Pecan Pie, in contrast to the one I had two nights previous, this was just a bear piece of pie in a bowel like plate, with no cream or ice cream. I called the waiter and had to correct him and remind him as how it was listed on the Menu in comparison has to how it was now being served. In conclusion the standard of food and service I received 2 nights previous was better, and that is why I returned to have that experience again, instead I was left feeling I was more of an inconvenience for ordering what was actually on the menu. When it came to paying the bill I got charged €2.00 extra for the half rice, half chips portion with the meal, what a scam!!! Next time I'm in Macroom I going to the Chinese down the street, why should I spend hundreds of euros in the Castle hotel when the interest in the Customers by the front line staff, the Chef and the management has ceased to exist. ***NEWSFLASH*** The Castle has fallen.

02/02/2025: Waiter was so nice and friendly. The service was brisk and the food was top tier. The lamb shank was melt in your mouth good.

13/06/2024: Nestled in the heart of Macroom Castle Demesne, The Mulligan Room is situated in the clubhouse of Macroom GC. You do not have to be a member to eat at this restaurant. The food is excellent. Freshly prepared from locally sourced ingredients. Breakfast provides a filling start to the day. Today I had the Katsu Chicken Burger which was superb, the pictures do not do the flavours and presentation justice. Excellent value for money in Macroom where quality and value for money seldom go hand in hand. Enjoy your food while taking in the terrific scenery and follow up with a walk in the Castle parklands. Staff are always friendly, welcoming and attentive. Keep up the good work Mulligan Room.

22/10/2024: Passing from Cork to Killarney, we stopped for lunch in this restaurant. We were made very welcome. The meal was good and the price affordable. I recommend this place.
