Excellent service, lovely atmosphere and really good food.
Highly recommend the coffee. Best coffee I've ever had in Ireland. Reminiscent of something you'd get in Spain or Portugal.
The assiette of starters is a great choice if you'd like a little of each.
Mains and desserts (we went the whole hog!) all fabulous.

16/02/2025: Busy place, little café, they serve nice food, nicely decorated,you can pretty much buy every decoration you see on display. They have freshly made cakes too. We were there lunch time, we sat and there was queu after us. The fishcake with wedges and chicken rice salad were very tasty. Service was quick.

09/03/2025: Our family had the pleasure of taking a guided tour of Birr Castle as part of the special events for Astronomy Week in Ireland. It was an incredible experience—both inspiring and deeply informative. Seeing the Leviathan and the modern radio telescopes up close was truly impressive, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past and present of astronomical discoveries.
As mathematicians and a physicist, we especially appreciated the passion and expertise of our guide, who brought history and science to life with a vivid and engaging narrative. Their enthusiasm and deep knowledge made the experience even more memorable.
Birr Castle is a must-visit for anyone interested in science, history, or simply breathtaking surroundings. Highly recommended!

12/01/2025: Nice old pub, very clean and well kept. Also clean toilets which is a rarity in Irish pubs. The Guinness is excellent here too. But €13 for goujons and frozen chips? A total rip off.

10/10/2024: This is such a beautiful spot. We walked down from the square and glad we passed the other few cafes on the way down. It was busy which is always a good sign. We ordered some breakfast paninis, Tea and a Latte. Portions were enough to satisfy and the taste was divine. Lovely atmosphere with more to the cafe then the front room. Great value for the quality of the food and service. If you're in Birr pop in you won't be disappointed.
Had to buy some cake and Gluten free buns before we left. Couldn't resist...

04/02/2025: This is a lovely little stop-off on my regular walking route with the dog. I'll normally get a matcha latte (and the odd vegan special), and the dog will grab a side of sausage.
The staff are all really lovely, the service is great, they sell really nice Irish produce, support some great causes, the sandwiches are full of flavour, and given there are local coffee shops charging over five euro for a coffee, the prices are still pretty reasonable.

10/01/2025: We accidentally dropped into this cozy brewery bar. We were greeted by a hospitable owner and a wonderful dog. We really liked this place, so authentic and traditional, imbued with Irish history. A cozy fireplace, candles, background Irish music create a special atmosphere of the bar. Very tasty beer, which is brewed right here. We asked if they make food, we were told that unfortunately they do not, however, a couple of minutes later the owner of the bar brought a dish of pork, cheese and delicious bread that he had prepared himself, so that the guests would not be hungry. Absolutely free! It was unexpected and so pleasant and we are very grateful! A soulful bar, we highly recommend visiting and a huge thank you to Kieran for such a wonderful time we spent in this place!
30/10/2024: Really good spot & the owner Kieran makes everyone feel welcome. Top class spot that is also a microbrewery. The Pikeman Stout is top notch
