Ichibanya Sushi and Noodles Bar

Cork, <20£
22/04/2025: Staff were warm and attentive. The sushi was incredibly fresh—melt in the mouth—and the presentation was beautiful. I also tried one of their noodle bowls and it was full of flavor, perfectly balanced, and super comforting. You can tell the chefs really care about the quality of the ingredients. Whether you’re a sushi lover or craving something hearty and warm, this spot delivers. Can’t wait to come back! Thanks Jan & Team

Miyazaki

Cork
31/03/2025: Collected 3 Ten Don aside from other 2 dishes and I cannot express how upset I am. The bowls had 2 prawns and a bunch of unseasoned peppers and aubergines that were greasy. The prawns were soggy and the rice was just boiled. I paid quite the amount for this absolutely inedible food. My mother got sick as she kept eating, we were luckier because we left the bowls untouched. Last time coming here. I expected a refund and an apology but they didn't bother.
31/03/2025: Not bad, but quite overhyped. 20 Eur for a basic ramen with what I suppose were instant noodles.

Maki Sushi Rolls

Cork
01/04/2025: Service was friendly and quick. Limited prepped menu allows for quick takeaway. Can enjoy the food while walking around. Make note that the spicy tuna roll is cooked, so it has a cooked tuna flavor as you’d expect. Overall it was pretty great food and I would recommend.
30/01/2025: Nice sushi plates. Everything was very fresh and tasty! Friendly staff too.

Wabisabi

19/04/2025: Delicious food, great service and good portion size as well. Highly recommended
12/04/2025: I noticed the menu at the entrance, with the fried rice and noodle. When I was inside with my friend, it was not available. Only until 3 pm the waitress told me. My friend ordered a Ramen. It was very short portion. Usually, it is a regular portion. We were disappointed. And then, my friend was finishing his Ramen when the waitress came to take his bowl. Overall, too pricey, a rip off for the portion and the atmosphere was not welcoming. I highly advise you NOT to go there and I will definitely not.

Dashi

Cork
13/04/2025: Cosy spot, lovely staff, underwhelming food. The vegan sushi I got was nice, but the ramen was really underwhelming, literally tasted like just veg stock, with thin rice noodles, a few chunks of carrot and cabbage with crispy onions on top. I've never had trouble getting vegan ramen, and usually, it will have your staple ingredients like shiitake, nori, tofu, and more depth to the broth. Can't speak for non vegan dishes here. Again, the vegan sushi was lovely, but if you're looking for vegan ramen, this isn't the place.
21/03/2025: Food is tasty. Enjoy every time I eat there. Lovely staff members!

Ichigo Ichie

Cork
27/04/2025: I’m a big fan of Miyazaki and had the tasting menu in the old Ichigo Ichie years ago, which was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, the new bistro was a huge disappointment. We had booked the bar counter, but when we arrived, there was no one at the bar — it just seemed like a dumping area, with trays and boxes everywhere. The service was poor too: we were left with empty glasses for about 30 minutes and no one came over to check if we wanted more drinks. We could also hear loud music coming from the kitchen, which made the atmosphere feel even more chaotic. To be fair, the duck starter was delicious, and my wife enjoyed her cod. However, when I bit into my chicken, it was raw and cold inside. When I flagged it, the waitress told me it was just “pink because it’s chicken thighs,” but it was very clearly undercooked. The chefs repeated the same line about using a thermometer, but the replacement dish they brought out was properly cooked and a lot hotter, proving the first one wasn’t right. I don’t mind mistakes — they happen — but I do mind being made to feel like I’m being awkward when raising a genuine issue. Overall, it was a really disappointing experience, and I won’t be returning.
22/04/2025: This is the pride of Asian cuisine, the finest Japanese dining experience here, and the place that best comprehends the essence of Japanese cuisine. It is a stroke of good fortune for Cork that with this great chef's presence, you have the opportunity to savor the most exquisite Japanese delicacies. I feel compelled to share this: most of the low-scoring reviews do not truly apprehend the soul of Japanese cuisine—they are, in fact, strangers to its depths. This is hardly just or reverent. For those unacquainted, abstaining from critique or choosing not to patronize would be more graceful than feigning expertise. I cherish this establishment through every iteration of its journey, and I hold in the highest regard the chef’s profound dedication to the delicate art of creating exquisite culinary masterpieces. I earnestly wish that the quality of reviews by Cork’s residents might be uplifted. Let us transcend ignorance and subjectivity, and refrain from offering casual critiques. While sharing your experiences, please honor the meticulous efforts of the restaurant with due respect.
