The best restaurants in Béal an mhuirthead

27/09/2025: Was here on a Monday night. Best pub we visited on our two week trip, and we visited a lot. The owner Padraig is a master at his craft. Providing a warm welcoming and making you feel at home. Poured a great pint of Guinness. Padraig, his daughter, and another gentlemen at the bar passed the guitar around all night and provided the music experience we were searching for through out Ireland. The fire place was roaring all night. An out of the way pub, in an out of the way small town with friendly locals and an eye toward traditional Irish hospitality. This is a special place that I couldn’t recommend higher.

25/09/2025: Came in for a drink but the staff was great! Cozy spot and we hear they have live music on occasion (weekend s?). Definitely going back!

05/09/2025: Great food but it takes 20-30 mins for a waiter to come by the table for anything

22/08/2025: Scallops, seafood platter and fishcakes were all superb!

12/09/2025: Just spent three nights at the Talbot hotel and would highly recommend. The owner and his team are doing a great job here and made us feel very welcome.

10/09/2025: Great people providing a great service in a great place ...! Several years have passed since our last visit and The Talbot Hotel and staff are as good as ever ...!

26/07/2025: We are here twice for breakfast/brunch whilst visiting family. We ate the loaded boxty (yummy!!), half mac breakfast and pancakes. The food and drinks were all delicious. On one day, I didn't want a massive dish and just asked for a portion of boxty which they happily accommodated and it was delicious. Thank you to the team who were kind and professional throughout.

06/08/2025: Stayed over last week for a few days, and I honestly think I couldn’t have stayed anywhere better in the EU for the same price. The room was basic and what you’d expect, the bed was very comfortable and the sower and toilet worked as they should. The coffee and tea facilities were great, and plenty of room to hang your clothes etc.for a single room it was excellent. The pub downstairs was excellent too for food and entertainment on most nights, location is the best in the town. Take it from me you’ll love your stay here, the owners and staff couldn’t do any more for you if they tried. So for the few moaners in the review section you really need to give your head a wobble. 31/07/2025: We chose to stay at this place because of the good reviews, but that is apparently only for the restaurant. The service and cleanliness were both poor. When we first arrived we had to hunt someone down from the restaurant to help us. They charged us gave us our key and disappeared. The place is dated, which would be ok if it wasn’t so expensive. We had to find them multiple times because of a filthy kettle and an issue with the toilet not working properly. They addressed the issues but had no interest in making our stay enjoyable. We also had to go find someone the next day when we checked out. Terrible service and the guest rooms seem to be merely an afterthought that will make them money no matter how little effort they put into them
