08/06/2025: Came here on the recommendation of the receptionist at our hotel across the street. From the moment my girlfriend and I walked in we felt like family. Mick, the owner, was hospitable and kind. He would stop and chat with us between helping other guests and told us a lot about Trim and its history. We both enjoyed our dinners thoroughly; I got the fillet and my girlfriend got the salmon. I will definitely be returning here when I come back to Trim. I recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!

08/06/2025: Had a lovely meal with my family. Food was super, lovely staff and they really made us feel welcome. We will be back again soon.

03/06/2025: We asked PlatterbyLu to cater for a birthday party on the recommendation of a friend and they did not disappoint! Lu was so easy to deal and so informative. They even prepared and boxed food for a guest who was Coeliac, separately, something they couldn't get over. We ordered a selection of cheeses, Charcuterie, Crudites, fruit and a selection of pastries. The food was incredible and I have included a photo which does not do it justice. The boxes were labelled so you knew what was in them and every morsal was eaten. The pastries were insane, I had a little taste of France for the evening! I cannot recommend Lu and her company enough and I will definitely call on her again, Michelle

30/06/2025: Great little coffee shop with lunch and breakfast options. Lovely location between Trim Castle and St Mary’s Abbey. Wonderful staff and terrific food. Wife and I had bacon and Brie ciabatta and the miso noodle salad with salmon.

05/06/2025: Too many surprises. Went here for breakfast during the week. Wanted something healthy so I ordered the Granola Bowl- which has greek yogurt, granola and berries. Described as "no nonsense" on the menu. It came out doused in honey which made it much too sweet. No mention of honey on the menu. To make it worse- it was then covered in icing sugar. I ordered a healthy breakfast and got served something that should have come with a type 2 diabetes warning. No staff came to ask if we were happy with our food so we left. Won't be returning. Too much nonsense. Massive disappointment- Olive Tree was a 5/5 establishment.

07/07/2025: Great spot in trim town centre. Very small front of house then opens up into very modern well decorated seating area at the back with 2 seperate rooms with bars for seperate rental. We visited on a Sunday. Was quiet but we stayed for several hours. Good service and great surroundings. We stayed at trim castle hotel which is 5 min walk from here. We will 100% be back. Maybe on a fri or sat next time

29/06/2025: What an absolute brilliant place! We were here for day 2 of my cousins wedding, the staff were unreal and couldn't do enough for our large family group, the place is huge with loads of nooks and crannys and the atmosphere was top quality, the price of the drinks we're very surprising, most pubs charge over the odds but not in James Griffin 🤩 the cocktails were top quality and a girl I think called Leanne (i was a bit tipsy so sorry if i got you're name wrong 😂) makes gorgeous whisky sours, the platters of finger food that came out were also top class, this place is one of the best pubs I've ever been in, so much to like about it, but the friendly hard working happy staff really do make it a gem of a spot, well done guys 👌👌👌

23/06/2025: I recommend it very much, sandwiches are great, coffee is pretty good, sometimes it is not as good. I guess it depends on who makes it. I would suggest the owner to make sure employees have proper training to make good quality coffee. Some days I simply love, other days, I wonder why I was there, not the other places I too like. Anyway, after their renovation, it gave another special touch to the place it seems. I keep coming back hoping that on the day I'm there, my coffee will taste that good :) Having a really good coffee preparation that stands out, will certainly win you a regular, not only for the coffee, for everything else, rather than I quick take away coffee :)

23/06/2025: I booked Boyne Valley Activities for my Scout Group (6th Meath). We had a fantastic day out. James and his team were very welcoming and professional. We were taken by bus to a starting point about 4k from Trim. The whole session was perfectly pitched for our group, which was mixed and ranged from 12 to 16 years old. It was a great mix of fun and learning in a safe environment. The landscape we paddled through was beautiful and we had a great day. They have a lovely café for anyone waiting to drop/collect and nearby parking is easy and cheap. Can definitely recommend!

17/06/2025: A great place to grab a coffee and a treat during/after a play park visit. Or maybe an ice cream on that one warm day we have every year! Caramel was just added to the flavours and it is fantastic. The activities are very popular and you need to book in advance. I have been in a kayak and in the large rubber boats and it is always great fun, safe, and you can learn some things about the local area too.

14/06/2025: The food I had was fabulous, a half portion of vegetable tagliatelle. The problem was I had to wait so long to get it once ordered. Had to sit outside because inside was full (not a problem though as weather was OK and I was parked right outside with a dog in the car). When the waitress took my order (fairly quickly) she should have told me there'd be a long wait as they were a Chef short. This was explained to me only after I went inside to ask if I'd been forgotten (waiting half an hour for my food). They were apologetic of course, but no good to anyone who's time restricted. They said mine was to be prepared next. The food was so good I would go back there if in the area.

17/06/2025: We discovered this place by chance. Good service and reasonably priced pints. We had breakfast this morning, and everything was great, with generous portions. It has a terrace next to the river and the city bridge, which is very picturesque.

12/06/2025: Big restaurant which had only six of us for dinner on a Thursday. Big menu with most of the dishes you would expect from a curry house. Food was nice but not exceptional. Good service from nice staff.

15/06/2025: Had a family meal to celebrate my dad's birthday and father's day combined and I couldn't fault it, portions were just right, staff were lovely and food was great. They were very accommodating to additional party size. The only thing I could fault is that they were sold out of apple crumble, other than that it was an extremely pleasant day. Possibly the longest time I've spent in a restaurant, there was no rush on us and decent time between courses to digest.

15/06/2025: Poor experience. I booked a table for 2 people and had requested a highchair in my booking which was noted in their book on arrival. The reservation was made a week in advance. The host was not very welcoming on arrival and had seemed flustered. He stated it was very busy because of Father's Day but when we were seated we noticed a good few empty tables and by no means did it look super busy as the host suggested. We were then told that all the highchairs were in use and when they did come with a highchair, one of the straps on it was missing which meant we could not strap our 10 month old into the chair safely. When we highlighted this, he told us that there were no other highchairs available (even though I had requested the highchair a week in advance at time of booking) We spent a good while before we got handed menus and already they were sold out of many items on the set menu. This was early in the day still and the restaurant did not look at full capacity! They do not serve any spirits at the bar either which is very limited and does not cater for a variety of customers I would assume. Our reservation was for 3:30pm and we had only received our first course by 4:15pm. The meal itself was only grand but the waitresses in fairness were very friendly. However, I would not recommend as there are in my opinion much better places in Trim to dine out!

26/05/2025: I recently popped in for a quick treat and was greeted by the warmest atmosphere ever. The girl at the till had the friendliest and kindest energy, being served by her was a treat. I would recommend this to anyone in Trim, what a lovely establishment!
