The best restaurants in Monaghan

23/08/2026: Okay, not amazing. The owner somewhat strange guy

09/08/2026: There’s always something in this shop unless you’re only shopping old fashioned till way. Ordered online - half of food unavailable and also got home and some food was missing. Got a call from the store to come back. (I’ve done online ordering to save time) 🫢😂 Now past two weeks I’ve done self scan - again - to save time. Double check everything everytime I put in basket and both times it was flagged as an item wasn’t scanned so they have to re-scan the whole order…. Same happened today with me being extra careful after the last time. Again - waste of time… could’ve just went to the till. The girl at the till asked for 49.10 € for my items, I’ve given 50.10 €, no change was given. I came back to ask for 1€ back and only got 90 cents but I couldn’t be bothered explaining obvious things I’m not counting every penny as it’s nothing these days but I hate when there’s always some kind of inconvenience ☠️ I’ll have to stop shopping in Supervalu unfortunately as it’s used to be our main shop

18/10/2026: Great selection of food, lovely decoration, friendly staff.

21/07/2026: Gorgeous food and excellent service!!

21/09/2026: Really nice place with friendly staff that very helpful and kind

13/09/2026: Great service, great food, great old fashioned booth,/ wooden pub with local characters, families and sports teams. The food portions were generous, filet steak and grilled chicken, and the veg and garlic sauté potatoes were all done to perfection. We topped off this fantastic meal with a well kept pint of Guinness. It was a perfect end to a short Irish holiday in Monaghan. We highly recommend this restaurant/ pub.

10/05/2026: Great service, friendly staff, reasonable price. Great covered over outdoor space when its too busy indoors.

20/04/2026: Excellent food, I can only recommend it. Great food 👌

20/10/2026: Best in the business even after young kerry taken over management has been and still is the best around ❤️

19/09/2026: Beautiful food at reasonable price. Salad options are great if you want a healthy option

11/01/2026: My children love it, the staff is friendly and calm

31/10/2025: Not the first time that half of my order was missing when I left. In fact almost 90% of my times going here, there is always something missing that I then have to go back in for. I was also told by the African looking manager that I should have checked my order before leaving. That is not my job to do so, and on top of that there must have been about 6 or 7 staff members looking at the same screen. How they forget anything is beyond me, as they have so many people looking at and packing the same order. Staff need more training, some people need Demoting as their manners are a disgrace and they are supposed to be the front face of the company

04/10/2026: Takeaway was top notch. Excellent for vegetarians. Saag Paneer Chilli Massala 🌶 amazing.

06/09/2026: Excellent food with fantastic, helpful staff. I don't live in Monaghan but will drop in each time I visit

18/08/2026: Everything is fine, but get water somewhere else because it costs a lot😂

02/08/2026: Bring back the TREACLE bread!! 😅

01/05/2026: Beautiful hotel, attended a wedding here. The bedroom had lovely decor, a queen sized bed and was spotless. The wedding seemed to run very smoothly, small gaps between courses to allow digestion and no tables appeared to have to wait long time. There were only 2 bar staff so the service there could be slow enough at times, especially as the promoted the cocktail list which obviously takes longer to prepare. Few niggles were when serving the toast wine, our table was only offered white and when the bottle ran out they didn't come back to us so some of us didn't actually have a drink for the toasts. Also, the same nearly happened with the tea! The girl moved to another table before checking she had offered everyone at our table. Just staff being either inexperienced or not fully engaged which isn't really good enough when you consider how much is paid by the bride and groom. The food was good and well portioned. The separate reception area for the welcome reception is a major plus for anyone who is looking a wedding venue

03/04/2026: Lovely hotel, very friendly service, rooms clean and good location

27/09/2026: Five of us had a lovely meal here, the pasta carbonara is lovely served with garlic bread served in a big bowl full of flavour you can exactly taste the garlic sauce lovely and creamy, chips are delicious to. My husband got the breakfast he said it was lovely he couldn't finish it, the only fault was he had to ask two different members of staff to bring his pot of tea that was supposed to come the breakfast. By the time he got his tea he was half way through the breakfast. We got lovely buns to take home they were lovely.

06/07/2026: As a hospitality worker myself I can see these girls are extremely well trained. So attentive and welcoming. Making sure you have everything you need and talking to you as if you’re a regular even when it’s your first time there. Amazing staff!
