Service complètement dépassé alors que le restaurant n’était pas plein .et en plus, le personnel n’en a visiblement rien à foutre

04/10/2024: What was a wonderful place to grab food has somewhere gone very wrong.
Extremely poor service: wrong orders, ambivalent/rude staff , over charging on our bill, coupled with long delays on food made this second experience our last.
That is before I even talk about the downgrade in food quality and the significant gouging mark up to experience all of the above.
I actively recommend you steer clear, what was a fantastic restaurant, is gone.
It is now replaced by a shade of its former self.
Let me put it this way, so bad was my experience I remembered to write this review 3 months later!!
03/10/2024: I just stayed at Monks Ballyvaughan for 3 nights. From my first interaction with Grace on reception I had a good feeling about the place. My room was absolutely fabulous. The food in the restaurant is unbelievable and the staff are a credit to themselves and their management. Can’t wait to come back. It’s a real hidden treasure and must be experienced to be appreciated. Keep up the good work Monks…. Seanie Mac from Killarney. Ps the Fish burger is the one for me! 🐟 🍔

26/08/2024: Busy spot in Schull harbour. Food is excellent. Really fresh fish and excellently cooked and presented. Owner is French and has a great no nonsense approach to his food. Highly recommend.

26/06/2024: This is a terrible fish and chips shop I ordered haddock and chips and when I looked he was giving me smoked coley he must think people are stupid the batter was soggy and the chips were terrible don't pay 13.95 for disgusting food.
12/06/2024: Wanted to order Monkfish and Prawn Tai Curry, no monkfish in curry anymore and no rice available either. Alternatively I ordered Fish which consisted of one piece of fish only. Used to be two pieces. Order did not include mushy peas either as I discovered at home. Chips cost extra €4.00 totalling €13.95. I feel ripped off and will not be going back again for a takeaway! Facebook menu doesn’t tally with menu in shop either. Very disappointed as this used to be the best fish and chips in the town!

13/07/2024: Got fish and chips x 2 portions. Fish was tasteless and very wet & the batter looked great, but again lacked flavour. The chips were nothing short of woeful. We came away very disappointed. I wish we had read the reviews before we decided to stop there.
16/06/2024: Really delicious and unique
Had champagne and oysters will definitely come back!
