The best restaurantsof seafood

24/07/2025: So *this* is what proper fish n chips is supposed to taste like. I've never been the biggest fan of the dish, disappointed numerous times, but this is a rare instance that the internet overlords of 'must visit' places is actually correct. I tried to do a walk-in when they opened, but they were already booked for the afternoon. Luckily, the nice young lady offered an evening reservation, which I took. It ended up being quite relaxed and not crowded at about 17:00, so I was happy I took this option. The haddock was about as perfect as I imagine fish n chips should be. The chips were quite good as well. And the tartare sauce is like opium. Had to get an extra heap of the stuff (it costs quite a bit extra). Friendly staff... not a cheap outing, but well well worth it over that other Dublin chain restaurant that will remain nameless.

29/06/2025: Wollte zur "Happy Hour" ein paar kleine Austern verspeisen und hatte mich wirklich schon gefreut...setze mich hin und bestelle 6 Stück...nach 5min kommt der Wein, leider keine Austern dazu. Nach weiteren 15min höfliche Nachfrage, es dauert noch weil andere Bestellungen vor mir. Nach weiteren 20min immer noch keine Austern, auf Nachfrage "es würde nicht mehr lange dauern", Wein nachgeordert mit dem dezenten Hinweis, dass der wohl hoffentlich aufs Haus geht. Nach weiteren 15min (kein Witz) kamen dann endlich 6 schlecht geöffnete Austern, mein Wein war leer und es gab auch keinen Nachschlag. Beim Zahlen dann auch keine Happy Hour und auf dann eher verärgerte Nachfrage nach dem "Wein aufs Haus", insgesamt 38€ für 6 mickrige Austern und zwei zeitversetzte Weinchen und eine Stunde Zeitaufwand. Unglaublich und wirklich sehr enttäuschend, hat mir den Nachmittag ordentlich verdorben.

07/06/2025: Usually best cafe around with good staff and service.Food also excellent. However 2 younger staff members today leave much to be desired .Was totally ignored for 30 minutes or more.Cafe not very busy.Male staff member more interested in talking to others about sale of cafe and served others who arrived after me whom he probilily knew Poor staff members both .Did not order Moved to another cafe.

24/09/2025: Disgusting and Disgraceful………how these people can get away with advertising themselves as a fish and chip shop……the fish was so tough I thought of bringing it home to make a school shoes for me kid…..the chips were dry and tasteless…….oh never again…..I wouldn’t walk past this excuse for a chipper……let alone eat from it………….stay away…..you’ve been warned

25/08/2025: Went here on a particularly busy day. line was out the door and yet they still moved very quickly. fantastic selection of pastries inside and the ice cream was delicious! meant to post a picture of the ice cream before we ate it but it was too good

20/08/2025: Amazing find. Fab place to pop into after a walk along the river. Homemade cakes & biscuits are truly amazing & tasty. Ice Cream is also worth a try.

15/09/2025: Eating here on our last day in Galway proved to be a huge mistake as my husband got severe food poisoning from their shellfish. Extremely disappointed that they’d serve someone expired food.

12/09/2025: Staff were nice and it's in a good location but the food was very poor. Everything was oily and greasy and lacking flavour. Felt more like food from a bad takeaway than a restaurant. Plenty of other good places to eat in Galway, maybe give this one a miss.

17/08/2025: Third time here. Absolutely gorgeous lunch. Tried the potted crab as a starter between two. I had scampi and fries for main and hubby had the fish and chips. My absolute No. 1. Won't be beaten.

17/08/2025: Great! Nice food, nice restaurant and great scenery! Nice waitors and you get great service. The tempo was a bit too quick between starter and main.

10/06/2025: Restaurant idéalement situé au bord de l’océan. Nous avions réservé notre table à l’avance, heureusement car il y avait beaucoup de monde. Le personnel était efficace et sympathique et la nourriture délicieuse. Très bonne adresse.

09/06/2025: Our introduction to monks was, if we wanted to eat on the deck we would have to come inside to order and bring our own food and drinks out. We were home from Canada and it had been a number of years since I had been to Monks. The service was rude and abrupt. The Guinness was great. The crab claw starter was excellent. My sister had asked for a salad dressing on the side and was told if it was made then no she couldn’t. The triple fried frozen chips with my not fresh catch of the day was very disappointing as was having to wait and wait for the server to come back to pay.

03/08/2025: Heard about this takeaway from friends who raved about it. Totally exceeded my expectations- lemon sole and chips to die for. Five star!!

22/07/2025: The food was okay, service was great, very open type restaurant. It does the job for quick food.
