29/06/2026: I am a Galway man myself, but I travel to Drogheda constantly because my partner is from there, and I make it my mission to hop on the train to Skerries to go to the Blue Bar. All the food looks incredible, however, I have been 5 times in the last year, and it's ALWAYS the chicken wings and a portion of chips. The best chicken wings on the island of Ireland without a doubt. The staff are always so welcoming and that includes the bar staff and management. The atmosphere and decor of the bar fits very well with the surrounding Skerries area. If I was a tourist or a local, I would make it my mission to get the train/bus to Skerries and go to the Blue bar, it will not disappoint you. It is levels above restaurants in Dublin City or Galway City from my own experience. As a qualified national tour guide with Fáilte Ireland, I would recommend this place to anyone who is willing to look for a food experience that is worth the price.

05/07/2026: Food was nice. I got the vegan option which was couscous stuffed aubergine in a spicy tomato sauce. It was a bit blanned which was disappointing, I couldn’t really get the spice either, I feel like it needed something a bit more. I tried the others dishes and they were a lot better think I must of chosen the wrong dish. Desserts were ok tried the brownie which was quit cakey and not super chocolatey tasting. The profiteroles were grand too, nothing out of this world. I was very excited to come so it was quit a bit disappointed. Chips were really good though same with mash and potatogratan. They know how to do their veg.

30/06/2026: A very friendly welcome, almost everything was reserved, but the kind owner helped us out if we only stayed for 1 hour and 45 minutes and reserved our preferred table. It would have been too chilly outside. The delicious food arrived promptly: wonderful baked scallops and a whole lobster cooked to perfection. Locally sourced! Incredibly tender. Both served on very tasty mashed potatoes. Ideal for the sauce. And afterwards, plenty of vegetables and French fries as a satisfying side dish…

10/06/2026: On a recent visit to Blacksod North Mayo fifteen of us booked dinner at the Talbot.We were given copies of the menu on route from reception. The food ,service and atmosphere was first class.I will let friends and family visiting the area know.

20/06/2026: Had a great visit to The Quays Bar in Bantry. The staff were incredibly sound, welcoming and always happy to help, which made the whole experience even better. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. I ordered the haddock and chips and it was absolutely spot on – fresh, perfectly cooked fish with a crispy batter and lovely chips on the side. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, making it a great place to stop for food or a few drinks. I’ll definitely be back and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Bantry. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

05/06/2026: While travelling the Wild Atlantic way we stopped here to have one night of stay before our excursion to Skellig Michael. The hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful spots on the ring of Kerry. Direct access to the beach where we were able to make this picture at sunset. The food they serve is amazing. The best oysters I had to date! And wonderful staff. A destination on its own.

17/05/2026: Had a recent family dinner here and it was 10/10. Attention to detail, beautiful menu options - for a very good price. Whipped goats cheese on sourdough was delicious. Service was brilliant and the staff were lovely. Can’t wait to return!

15/02/2026: This was our 2nd time eating here and i can honestly say this place is fabulous! Food is so fresh and tasty, a real hidden gem in the Downings. Scampi & Fish Tacos are unreal. If you dont eat here you are missing out. Just fab!! Cant wait to return

09/06/2026: Disappointing stay- as a returning guest I will not return anymore. Check in got off on a poor note. We travelled 3hrs to the hotel in bad weather conditions, arrived late in the evening. We were left standing at reception while the receptionist engaged in general chit chat with a guest from the bar who stood drinking his pint. No problem waiting, but we were not even acknowledged until they were done chatting after some time. We were then informed of a power outage. No back up generators were available, we checked into our dark room and could not use the toilet or shower facilities due to no power. The receptionist advised we could travel to a town 30min away for evening dinner as this town may have electricity. The power had been out for some time, I felt it may have been an option for the hotel to contact guests who had not yet checked in and inform them re food provisions. As mentioned we travelled 3hrs and had driven past the town suggested to us for dinner. That said, the receptionist was obliging and phoned us to say the power had returned. We turned and went back to the hotel for dinner. This was highly disappointing. I sent my meal back as the chicken was half hot and half cold in the middle. My partners meal also fell far below acceptable standard especially for the cost. A burger from a takeaway would have been better standard as the bun crumbled it was so burned. Some of our food was dropped to the incorrect table also and was not prepared until after we had finished our meal. However, the wait staff were extremely helpful and friendly and apologetic of the situation. We did not have to pay for some of the meal. Our room was extremely hot and stuffy even with windows open during the night. At 6am in the morning we realised we were in an adjoining family room, as we woke to a young child crying. The noise appeared extremely close due to only having a door in the room separating us from the family. €225 for a room only rate, hugely disappointing and poor value for money. We stayed approximately 4years ago and returned due to having had a positive experience and enjoying our stay. We had also eaten in the restaurant during this stay and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Receptionist on check out did not ask how our stay was and allow the opportunity for feedback. Limited in accommodation in Schull doesn’t leave much options for alternative accommodation, I would suggest travelling from a nearby town instead of staying in this particular overpriced, underwhelming accommodation.

09/06/2026: Popped in for chowder and pint after a local race. Was a small crowd in for pre wedding drinks and staff weren’t able. Ordered my pint and chowder for a nice waitress. Went outside, had to get my own water. Pint came and then the chowder, no napkin, no knife for the butter etc. Chowder was nice, nothing special. Great location and potential - staff and service could have been better.

07/06/2026: Fabulous hotel. Perfect location and we had a beautiful room overlooking the marina. Staff were amazing and we were well looked after. Breakfast was perfect 👌 Highly recommend 👌 We would definitely stay here again.

10/05/2026: Obnoxious woman at the till, which is a shame as the food was amazing, especially the smash burger, curry sauce and chips are very nice as well. Experience when ordering did however put a damper on everything.
